«Breaking News» The Morning Show's Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies joke about 'gender pay gap'

The Morning Show's Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies are known for their calm and bubbly demeanours.

But the pair found themselves in an awkward situation while being grilled about who earns more on the Channel Seven breakfast show.

During an appearance on the Kyle and Jackie show on Thursday, Kylie joked that while they get paid the same amount, she is paid in 'pesos'.

'I think Kylie [earns more],' Larry said.

The 54-year-old added Kylie would earn more than him 'once you put in shares in the network and bonuses'. 

The two breakfast hosts were then played an earlier recording of Kylie joking about the topic.

'We are both paid the same figure, it's just I suspect Larry's getting paid in US dollars and I'm getting paid in pesos.'

It comes after the infamous 2017 pay dispute between Lisa Wilkinson and Channel Nine.

The former Today show co-host sensationally quit the breakfast TV show after it was revealed that her male co-host, Karl Strefanovic, earned significantly more than her.

It was rumoured that Karl was earning $2 million - almost double her $1.1 million salary. 

Earlier this month, Sunrise co-host, Samantha Armytage, hinted that she and her co-host, David 'Kochie' Koch, earn the same amount. 

'All I know is that everything is equal at Channel Seven,' the Channel Seven star told the Kyle and Jackie O show.

She did not specify how much they are paid.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
