«Breaking News» Luke Perry can't hide his excitement at a possible 90210 reunion in posthumous video

Luke Perry could not hide his excitement as he talked about a possible 90210 reunion in a posthumous video that has been unearthed by DailyMail.com.

The actor died surrounded by his loved ones on Monday aged 52 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, California, following a massive stroke on Wednesday, February 27.

The news of his hospitalization came shortly after Fox announced that 90210 was returning for a reboot starring the series' original cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling.

Perry was also set to return to the show that made him a star with his character Dylan McKay in a surprise appearance that was already being plotted, having agreed to come back just before his stroke, a source told DailyMail.com.

Now in an unearthed interview from April 2017, Perry joked and expressed to DailyMail.com that he was excited about the show possibly returning with his former cast members before good-naturedly rejecting the idea that he would return to his sex symbol status.

Speaking on the red carpet at an awards show in Los Angeles, Perry was accompanied by fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, who was at his side when he died, along with his children, siblings and mother.

Perry said: 'I am excited and enough time has gone by, and it was something Aaron Spelling wanted to do while he was alive.

'To get back together with all these guys I would love it.'

Perry joked he was willing to return his hair to its 1990s glory, saying: 'With the original cast and these guys back I would get this hair up, we would get the spray out and get it all going.'

He also coyly admitted that he was not expecting to return to his sex symbol status and do denim and fragrance modeling campaigns.

Perry laughed and said: 'I don't think it is going to be like that. I will get out there and do my best.'

He also expressed his willingness to 'fight' alongside his former co-star Shannen Doherty, who was in remission following a bout with cancer, hoping she would be able to sign on as well.

Perry said: 'I am up for whatever Shannen is up for. If she wants to do it we will do it, and if not we will see.'

Fox has ordered six episodes of the series, which are set to air this summer. The network has dubbed the revival simply 90210.

The event series comes with a twist, however. The actors will not be playing their characters from the show, but rather heightened versions of themselves.

Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori will reunite when one of them suggests it's time to get a 'Beverly Hills, 90210' reboot up and running.

A statement released by the late actor's publicist on Monday read: 'He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends.

'The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.'

Perry has also appeared in a number of films, including the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Fifth Element and Scorchers.

He was also an accomplished voice actor, filming episodes for animated series including Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons, Johnny Bravo, The Incredible Hulk and more.

In the wake of 90210, he appeared on a number of TV shows, including Oz, Windfall and John From Cincinnati, but none that reached the heights of the iconic show set in Beverly Hills.

He had starred on the CW series Riverdale up until his death, and had recently filmed a role in Quentin Tarantino's latest film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood alongside Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.

Friends of Perry took to Twitter to remember the actor, with Ian Ziering, who starred opposite Luke for ten years on their iconic 90s high school show, wrote: 'Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we've shared over the last thirty years.

'May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
