Justin Bieber showed off large cupping marks on his back during a recent beach trip.

The singer, 25, was enjoying the sunshine at Laguna Brach with his wife Hailey Baldwin, 22, on Sunday, going shirtless as he splashed around in the shallows.

Bieber's back was covered in several dark red bruises from his recent therapy, a practice loved by many Hollywood stars.

Eight bruises were clearly visible on his back, running along his spine in two columns. 

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine which involves placing cups on the skin to created a suction technique.

Used in Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures, cupping has been used for thousands of years.

Benefits include helping issues with pain, inflammation and blood flow, as well as general relaxation and well being.

Used to remove toxins and help energy move around the body, the practice is popular with celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Madonna.

A therapist will put a flammable substance in cup; as the air cools, it creates a vacuum, casing the skin to rise and turn red as blood vessels expand.

Madonna memorably shocked her fans when she posted a graphic picture of the process back in 2015, showcasing her skin swelling up to fill the cups.

Meanwhile, Bieber has won praise from fans after confessing he was struggling with his mental health.

Been struggling a lot,' the Canadian pop star admitted. 'Just feeling super disconnected and weird...'

The accompanying photo, which was originally taken in 2016, showed Bieber in prayer with friends Kanye West and Scooter Braun.

Justin opened his message by hoping his journey would 'resonate' with fans.

'Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit hopefully what I'm going through will resonate with you guys,' he wrote.

'Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird.. I always bounce back so I'm not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me,' continued the devout pop star.

'God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks .. the most human season I've ever been in facing my stuff head on..' he concluded.

Justin has been open and honest with fans about his personal life, and even revealed earlier this year he once struggled with sex and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

'I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed,' he told Vogue.

'My mom always said to treat women with respect. For me that was always in my head while I was doing it, so I could never enjoy it. Drugs put a screen between me and what I was doing.' 

But now Justin has started a new chapter in his life, having married long-time friend and on-off love Hailey Baldwin last year.

Justin is now reportedly seeking treatment for depression, and though he is allegedly struggling personally, his wife is not the source of his problems.

'It has nothing to do with Hailey — he is very happy being married to her. It's just something else that he struggles with mentally,' a source told People. 

'He has good help around him and is receiving some treatment. He seems confident he will feel better soon.'

Supportive: The couple have been inseparable ever since they got back together and tied the knot following a whirlwind few months

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
