One of the parents implicated in the massive college bribery scandal co-hosted a fundraiser for Sen Kirsten Gillibrand just days before she was charged.
Marketing CEO Jane Buckingham paid $2,800 to co-host the Beverly Hills fundraiser alongside Will Ferrell and Shonda Rhimes last Saturday, according to Page Six.
The fundraiser for Gillibrand's exploratory 2020 presidential run took place at the home of Larry Berg, the owner of soccer team Los Angeles FC, and his wife Allison.
Buckingham allegedly paid $50,000 to have someone take her son's ACT test in July 2018 to help him get into the University of Southern California.

Shortly after Buckingham was charged in the scandal, her son released a statement and said he was 'unknowingly involved' in the cheating scheme.
'I know there are millions of kids out there both wealthy and less fortunate who grind their a** off just to have a shot at the college of their dreams,' he told the Hollywood Reporter.
'I am upset that I was unknowingly involved in a large scheme that helps give kids who may not work as hard as others an advantage over those who truly deserve those spots.'
'For that I am sorry though I know my word does not mean much to many people at the moment.'
'While the situation I am going through is not a pleasant one, I take comfort in the fact that this might help finally cut down on money and wealth being such a heavy factor in college admissions.'
'Instead, I hope colleges may prioritize an applicants' character, intellect, and other qualities over everything else.'
Buckingham, a Beverly Hills boutique marketing firm CEO, was among the 50 people - including Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman - charged on Tuesday for allegedly conspiring with mastermind Rick Singer to cheat their children's way into college.

Buckingham, who has been described as one of the world's leading experts in youth branding, created and later sold the company Youth Intelligence, a marketing firm that focused on Generations X and Y.
Court documents claim that Buckingham paid $50,000 to have another person take the ACT exam for her son in July 2018.
Jack was due to fly to Texas to sit his exam in a test center that was in on the scheme but came down with tonsillitis.
Buckingham, who didn't want him to fly, allegedly arranged for Jack to take a fake test at home while someone else took his test in Texas.
Jack took the test in his bedroom and believed that it had secured his place at USC.
Buckingham even gave a handwriting sample from her son so that the person taking the test could attempt to match his writing on the ACT exam in Texas.

In a wiretapped phone call with Singer, Buckingham said: 'He has not great writing. I'm gonna give you that'.
She later emailed across the writing sample and said: 'Good luck with this'.
Jack ended up scoring 35 out of 36 on the ACT.
Months later in October, in a conversation wiretapped by investigators, Buckingham expressed interest in having someone take her daughter Lilia's entrance exams as well.
Buckingham admitted that her daughter is 'not a great test taker'.
Lilia, a high school sophomore and Instagram influencer, tweeted on Wednesday: 'hello beautiful people. thank u for your support. i love u all.'
Buckingham appeared in court late Tuesday with Huffman, who is her friend and has also been charged in the scheme.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
