«Breaking News» Gwyneth Paltrow claims to have never heard of a vajacial

Gwyneth Paltrow — she of vaginal steaming, yoni eggs, and all kinds of sexual health woo-woo — claims to have never heard of vagina facials.

The 46-year-old actress and Goop founder answered fan questions on Instagram this week, and insisted she wasn't aware of 'vag facials' or 'vajacials' - despite sparking discussion about such treatments back in 2015 when her website published a review of a spa that offered 'vaginal steaming'.

However, while Gwyneth claims to have no knowledge of such treatments, she certainly seems eager to try one and cover it for her site.

If you say so! One fan asked for her thoughts on 'vag facials' and Gwyneth insisted she'd never heard of them

Goop reached one million followers on Instagram recently, and in honor of the milestone, Gwynnie herself did a Q&A with fans on Instagram Live.

Wearing her hair down and no makeup while sitting in what appeared to be an office, she read one particularly pressing fan question out loud.

'What's my current stance on the vag facial?' she read, before asking someone off camera, 'What is a vag facial?'

She then made a surprised expression before saying, 'A vagina facial? I've never even heard of that.

'Whoever asked, let's go get one together. Let's go straight to the vagina facialist and then we'll write a piece together on Goop.'

Vag facials do a lot of the things regular facials — as in, for the face — do, except for the outer skin of the vulva.

According to Women's Health, one such treatment from Daphne in New York City promises to target 'ingrown hairs and hyperpigmentation in the bikini area, as well as cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and brightening.'

The reporter who tested it out said it involved an exfoliating scrub, an ingrown hair extraction, toner, a mask, and hydrating cream.

But though they've earned some attention on the internet for a few years now, it seems that Gwyneth has missed out on this particular phenomenon.

She has been known, though, to be on the forefront of other vaginal trends.

In 2015, she made headlines when Goop reviewed Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica, which offers vaginal steaming to patrons.

Initially, the review claimed that the treatment 'cleans your uterus, et al' and noted that it is more than just a 'steam douche,' promising that it actually 'balanced female hormone levels.'

Interestingly at the time, despite Gwyneth claiming to have never heard of a 'vag facial', this process of vaginal steaming was actually referred to by many as a kind of 'vagina facial'.

The review is still on the site, however it has since been edited, and now reads: 'The real golden ticket here is the Mugworth V-Steam: You sit on what is essentially a mini throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam treats you to an energetic release.'

On it: Gwyneth is often on the forefront of strange vaginal trends, first popularizing 'vaginal steaming'

It's unclear if the piece was edited because Goop feared legal ramifications for making such claims about the vaginal steaming.

Certainly, several doctors warned that a V-steam was a bad idea after she wrote about it

According to the Daily Beast, OB/GYN Dr. Jennifer Gunter said: 'Steam is probably not good for your vagina. Herbal steam is no better and quite possibly worse. It is most definitely more expensive.

'Steam isn’t going to get into your uterus from your vagina unless you are using an attachment with some kind of pressure and MOST DEFINITELY NEVER EVER DO THAT.'

Gwyneth did, in fact, face a legal penalty in 2018 for claims she had made about jade yoni eggs that she sold in her online shop.

Her website claimed that its jade and rose quartz vaginal eggs could balance hormones and regulate menstrual cycles.

Several people raised concerns that those claims were dubious, and California's consumer protection office brought a lawsuit against the company.

'The health and money of Santa Clara County residents should never be put at risk by misleading advertising,' District Attorney Jeff Rosen said.

'We will vigilantly protect consumers against companies that promise health benefits without the support of good science…or any science.'

In September, they reached a settlement wherein Goop had to pay $145,000 in civil penalties and also offer refunds to customers who purchased the eggs (or a flower essence that also made scientifically-unsupported claims).

Going forward, Goop is banned from making health claims that are not supported by science.

Previously, the side had also had a guide on yoni eggs, which has since been deleted.

It featured a Q&A with 'beauty guru/healer/inspiration/friend' Shiva Rose, who said, 'Jade eggs can help cultivate sexual energy, clear chi pathways in the body, intensify femininity, and invigorate our life force. To name a few!'

Vagina facials weren't the only thing that Gwyneth addressed during her live Q&A however; the lifestyle guru also spoke about her sleeping habits - confessing that she likes to get at least eight hours - as well as her feelings about her children being in the public eye.

When one fan asked whether Gwyneth would post more pictures of her daughter, 14-year-old Apple, the actress noted that she likes to let her children be their own people, and live as much away from the spotlight as possible.

Gwyneth was also quizzed on her anti-aging philosophies, and revealed that her secrets to aging well are drinking lots of water, getting plenty of sleep, sex, and surrounding yourself with people you love.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
