«Breaking News» Grant Denyer reveals his horrific hallucinations while recovering from a back injury

Grant Denyer has opened up about the terrifying hallucinations he suffered while recovering from a monster truck crash in 2008.

The TV and radio personality, 41, broke his back during the freak accident and required heavy medication during his months-long recovery.

And speaking on his 2Day FM breakfast show on Wednesday, Grant revealed the drugs that helped him cope with the pain also made him lose touch with reality.

Grant, who confessed he wasn't fully prepared for the medication he was prescribed after the accident, shared several horror stories with listeners.

For a period of time, the Dancing with the Stars host apparently became obsessed with 'escaping' his now-wife Chezzi Denyer - often with disastrous results.

'I was down the street in my undies, this is Castlereagh Street [in Sydney's CBD] trying to find Scotch in my undies,' Grant recalled.

The incident was all the more bizarre because he doesn't even like whisky.

Eventually, Chezzi found her husband in the street and was able to guide him back to their apartment safely.

There was another incident which Grant said was a 'tipping point when I think my wife nearly left me'.

'She couldn't find me for hours. I was asleep in the emergency fire escape in a high-rise building, sleeping on the floor in my undies next to a human poo,' he explained.

'I was almost cuddled up to someone's else's faeces in the spooning position.'

During another hallucination, Grant thought he was in the middle of a home invasion.

'You go to sleep, right? And you would automatically go into a nightmare every single time, and you would go into your deepest, darkest fears kind of nightmare,' he said.

'I had a dream and I woke up, then I believed we were in the middle of a home invasion so I tried to fight off people that weren't there. With a broken back!'

And speaking on his 2Day ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
