«Breaking News» Gay Sikh man was forced to dress up as a woman on his wedding day

A gay Sikh man was forced to dress up as a woman on his wedding day because his in-laws didn't want anyone to know he was male.

Roy Singh, from Manchester, was told to wear a wig, high heels and make-up by his fiance's family to convince the community their son was not gay.

The 29-year-old met his future husband when he was 18 and ended up moving to London to live in his family home.

But Mr Singh says he tried to kill himself after being subjected to nine months of abuse because his British Sikh in-laws needed to respect the family's honour, The Mirror reports.

On the wedding day the family told guests Mr Singh was an orphaned widow and so had no family.

He said: 'She said if I wanted to marry him I would have to dress as a woman on the wedding day. I would also need to pretend to be a woman for a while to convince the community her son isn't gay.'

He reportedly almost fainted in fear of being found out at the huge wedding of 450 guests.

The following day he said he was told he would now be called Lucky anbd would have to dress in women's clothes .

Mr Singh said: 'My mum-in-law started calling me her daughter-in-law,' he said. 'There was a time when I came down in slippers, not really dressed. She said I needed to maintain myself at all times and never come down again like that.

And he said he was treated like a slave in the home and was made to do 18 hours of chores a day.

he ended up losing weight after only eating a bowl of weetabix and a smoothie today and was barely allowed to see his husband.

And things got worse when his parents found on on Facebook after seeing wedding photos of him dressed up as a bride.

His mother-in-law forced him to visit them dressed as Lucky. He said: 'She wanted to sit down with my family and tell them what had happened. They took it really badly and told me never to come home again.'

Mr Singh finally found the courage to leave after nine months and ended up in a homeless shelter.

but four months later he found out his husband was set to marry a woman and he tried to kill himself.

he said: 'I put my wedding outfit back on and I went down to the river and slashed my wrists. I felt like they made me his wife so I was going to kill the wife.'

A passerby saved Mr Singh by dragging him form the water and he was taken to hospital where his parents where called and took him back home.

Brave Mr Singh now performs in drag as lucky in a bid to take control of his identity.

But he still has flashbacks about the months of abuse and wakes up screaming.

his ex, who has not been named, told the newspaper: “Me and my mum would like to apologise to Roy Lucky Singh.”

The 29...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
