«Breaking News» AOC praises Omar as 'one of the most effective voices right now' for comments on Trump

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised congresswoman Ilhan Omar by calling her 'one of the most effective voices right now' on Sunday night.

Omar had tweeted an article about an alleged attack on an aid convoy being sent to Venezuela, saying that Trump 'cannot be trusted to tell the truth' about the Latin American country.

She called for people to 'question the narratives' surrounding the situation and to 'promote dialogue instead of intervention'.

Sharing her tweet, Ocasio-Cortez added that the congresswoman, from Minnesota, was 'cutting through the authoritarian foreign policy tendencies of this administration'.

The New York lawmaker went on to say that 'you can see why she gets targeted'.

Rep. Ilhan Omar's controversial tweets

'Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman! I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee. The people of the 5th elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that!' - her March 3 tweet in response to Rep. Nita Lowey's criticism of her

'It's all about the Benjamins baby' - her February 10 tweet interpreted to mean lawmakers defended Israel because of financial donations

'AIPAC!' - Omar's tweeted the name of the powerful Jewish group in response to a tweet asking her who she meant when she said 'it's all about the benjamins'

'Israel has hypnotized the world. May Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel' - a tweet from 2012 now deleted

Omar, 37, sparked controversy after saying that she wanted to discuss 'the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country' at an event in Washington.

The Muslim lawmaker, who came to America in 1991 as a Somali child refugee, then said supporting Israel was not a pre-requisite for serving in Congress.

Last month she drew criticism from both Republicans and Democrats after claiming that Israel's relationship with the US was 'all about the Benjamins'. She later apologized for the comment.

Ocasio-Cortez has already refused to condemn Omar's comments in the past, saying that it should be acceptable for her to question foreign policy in the U.S.

She previously wrote: 'I remember a time when it was "unacceptable" to question the Iraq War. All of Congress was wrong, including both GOP & Dem Party, and led my generation into a disastrous + wrong war that virtually all would come to regret, except for the one member who stood up: Barbara Lee.'

Correcting a mistake, the congresswoman added: 'Afghanistan War* my apologies (But honestly we shouldn't have been in either, and we should end the AUMF now while we're at it).'

Last week the House passed a resolution condemning hate language in the hopes of putting the issue aside so the party can focus on other legislation.

Omar's name was not specifically mentioned in the text, with speaker Nancy Pelosi clearing her of intentional anti-Semitism.

Pelosi said: 'It's not about her, it's about these forms of hatred.

'I don't think the congresswoman perhaps doesn't appreciate how it was heard by other people although I don't believe it was intended as anti-Semitic although that's how it was interpreted.'

They broadened the text to include condemn Islamophobia and white supremacism after Omar's defenders said one form of hate should not be singled out.

Then, minutes before the scheduled vote Democrats pulled it again, to add several groups not included in the original measure, including Latinos, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and LGBTQ community.

Omar has herself faced racism during her short time in Congress, most recently in the form of a poster in the West Virginia statehouse linking her to 9/11.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
