«Breaking News» Rapper 6ix9ine admits gang membership and pleads guilty to nine federal charges

Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to federal charges, admitting his participation in a violent gang and pledging to cooperate with prosecutors against others.

The plea was entered last week by the rapper, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, as information pertaining to it was unsealed Friday in Manhattan federal court.

During the plea, 6ix9ine said he joined the Nine Trey Blood Gang in the fall of 2017 and his participation involved knowledge of the Chief Keef shooting last June, a transcript appears to reveal.

He admitted to being paid for selling a kilo of heroin in 2017 but also seemingly turned against fellow gang members by claiming his actions were a result of the desire to rise higher in the rankings.

The music artist said that early on into the gang membership he helped others try to kill a rival gang member March 20, 2018 to 'increase my own standing in Nine Trey'.

He told Judge Paul A. Engelmayer. He said he also 'knew that another member of Nine Trey had a gun and discharged that gun'.

Hernandez claimed that alongside other members of the Nine Bloods he helped rob a rival at gunpoint on April 3, 2018.

The rapper said it was part of a pledge by new gang members to commit at least two crimes.

The hitmaker also alluded to knowing who pulled the trigger in an incident where Chief Keef was shot at near New York's Times Square on June 2, 2018.

'I paid a person to shoot at a rival member of Nine Trey to scare him,' he stated at his hearing. 'The shooting took place in Manhattan. I did this to maintain or increase my own standing in Nine Trey.'

It's believed the person he referred to paying to frighten 23-year-old Chief Keef - real name Keith Farrelle Cozart - was Kintea McKenzie, 21, also known as Kooda B.

The fellow rapper was allegedly paid $10,000 to pull the trigger outside the W Hotel after the Six9ine and Keef carried out a social media spat in the months prior. However after the shooting Hernandez claimed his social media had been hacked.

Around the time 6ix9ine had also said he had a $30,000 bounty on Keef's cousin Tadoe.

Kooda B is one of three people believed to have been indicted, a source told TMZ. The others two are Denard Butler and Anthony Ellison. Ellison had previously been apprehended in connection with last summer's kidnap and assault of Tekashi.

It's understood Hernandez will help out prosecutors for the next year in exchange for lighter punishment.

With the plea deal, 6ix9ine can gain leniency at sentencing from what otherwise would have been a mandatory minimum 47 years in prison.

If he admits all nine crimes and testifies truthfully when summoned he could be partially off the hook.

Hernandez was indicted on racketeering charges last November, the same month two men were captured on video firing shots into a Beverly Hills, California estate with Nicki Minaj's dressing room.

The property was also hosting Kanye West and Tekashi 6ix9ine.

In October he was affiliated with a shooting in New York.  A brawl broke out at a Manhattan restaurant between security for record label 10k Projects and Tekashi's entourage. A third party opened fire and struck the rapper's guard in the torso.

Tekashi said sorry to those affected by his actions, according to the court transcript from last week.

Hernandez stated: 'I apologize to the Court, to anyone who was hurt, to my family, friends and fans for what I have done and who I have let down.'

Attorney Dawn Florio said 6ix9ine's safety was a chief concern.

'In the very beginning of the case when we found out that my client's security was at risk because of threats by his co-defendants, we have done everything to protect himself and his family,' she said, adding that those efforts continue.

'He has to be separated from the people who threatened him,' Florio said.

She said he is receiving mail from fans.

'All his fans love him and Danny loves all his fans. He loves hearing from his fans,' she said. 'For security reasons, he's not responding to them at this point.'

He has 15.5 million followers on Instagram. His album Day69: Graduation Day was among the top-sellers on iTunes following its February release.

6ix9ine had a multiplatinum hit song, Fefe, with Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No. 3 on the pop charts, and Stoopid, featuring the incarcerated rapper Bobby Shmurda.

He pleaded guilty in Brooklyn to disorderly conduct in connection with a May traffic stop. In 2015, he was sentenced to probation for appearing in a video in which a 13-year-old girl performed a sex act on another man.

A message seeking comment was left for 6ix9ine's lawyers.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
