«Breaking News» 'I wish I did acting': Beau Ryan says regrets not going to drama school instead of playing football

Beau Ryan carved out a very successful career in rugby league before hanging up his football boots.

However, the former Cronulla Sharks winger has revealed he wished he took acting classes as a young man instead of just playing NRL, the sport which made him famous.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Beau, 33, said: 'I wish I did drama or acting as a kid and got to mix with more creative people rather than just go into footy and meet the footy boys.'

He added: 'Drama wasn't cool when I was young.'

Despite this, Beau has pursued various roles in TV, theatre and on the big screen since retiring from the NRL in 2014.

Aside from being the resident funnyman on the now defunct Footy Show, Beau starred as the genie in Bonnie Lythgoe's production of the classic pantomime Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp in 2015.

Three years later the handsome father-of-two made his big screen debut in the comedy movie, Chasing Comets.

The film also starred Isabel Lucas, Dan Ewing, and Rhys Muldoon.

And on Sunday, Beau will appear on TV alongside Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris in Chris & Julia's Sunday Night Takeaway.

According to a statement by Network Ten in September last year, the program will include 'outrageous fun, massive surprises, exciting challenges, celebrity guests and big entertainment value'.

'It's an inclusive show that gets everybody in on the fun; audience members are randomly selected to participate in challenges and home viewers will receive surprise live visits, all with a chance to win fantastic prizes,' the statement continued.

Beau is married to his wife of six years, Kara, and the couple share daughter Remi, six, and son Jessie, one.

Speaking to the Daily T...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
