Hundreds of insurers would not be willing to provide cover for Prince Philip after his horror crash near the Sandringham estate last month - it has been revealed.
Only three providers could formulate quotes for the 97-year-old royal, with hundreds of providers accessed through comparison websites considering Prince Philip 'uninsurable'.
Confused.com, GoCompare and Money Supermarket provided the 97-year-old royal with a lowest possible premium of £9,940.61, while the highest estimate peaked at £24,170.82.
It comes after Philip was involved in a horror accident near the Sandringham estate in Norfolk last month with the Duke escaping unhurt despite his car being 'T-boned' by another vehicle and flipping onto its side.
The Prince could face a bill of up to £24,000 in order to get back on the road as hundreds of insurers were unable to provide him with a quote
The highest quote came from insurer Go Girl to whom the Prince would need to pay a £24,170.82 premium in order to be covered
Insurer Go Girl provided the highest possible quote for the Duke of Edinburgh, with his cover estimate hitting a whopping £24,170.82.
The quote was formulated using his age, address and the same make and model of Land Rover he was driving during last month's crash.
It also included an estimate of the damage caused during the crash at £80,000.
The crash took place on the 60mph A149 road near the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk on January 17.
Police are understood to be looking at driver error rather than mechanical faults.
The accident happened as Philip pulled out of a side road on to the 60mph limit A149 road. His Land Rover collided with a Kia car, sending his vehicle tumbling across the road where it ended up on its side.

Other price comparison websites came up with similarly astronomical quotes for the 97-year-old royal, with the lowest coming in at £9940.61
Only three providers were actually able to quote for the Duke of Edinburgh through the comparison sites
The 28-year-old woman driver of the Kia suffered a knee injury and her 45-year-old woman passenger sustained a broken wrist.
A nine-month-old boy strapped into the back seat escaped serious injury.
Philip told people at the scene that the crash happened after he was dazzled by the low sun.
The Duke, who has given a police statement, could be charged with careless driving.
However, legal experts said pursuing a conviction would not be in the public interest if the Duke were to surrender his driving licence.
Norfolk Police said its investigation was ongoing.
The front of the Kia Carens was crushed in the collision with 97-year-old Prince Philip and was written off

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
