«Breaking News» Burning Man CEO bans campsite costing up to $100k and slams influencers in wake of Fyre Festival

Burning Man's CEO has announced a ban on an elite campsite costing up to $100,000 while slamming social media influencers in the wake of the Fyre Festival disaster.

Marian Goodell revealed a number of changes to the week long event in a blog post over the weekend, including the fact that Camp Humano has not been invited back in 2019.

Humano offered accommodation starting at $25,000 for a 160 square foot 'Single Bedouin Tent' with minibar and air conditioning, according to price list seen by Mashable.

Those prices reportedly went up to $100,000 for two bedrooms, a private bathroom, and 'super-powerful' AC in rooms dubbed a 'Moon Village' and comes amid reports of a rise in wealthy Silicon Valley festival goers, including Google exec Eric Schmidt.

But Goodell announced the pricey camp would not be back, writing: 'After negative reports from participants and nearly every Black Rock City operations team, we told Camp Humano that they are not invited back in 2019 as a placed camp.

'Humano was a strain on resources, had a poor ‘leave no trace’ record for three years, had a very poor 2018 environmental compliance record including multiple BLM citations, and was the subject of many complaints from neighboring camps.'

Goodell also called out social media influencers and sponsored attendees, saying their posts were now 'wildly out of control'.

She wrote: 'Whether it’s commercial photo shoots, product placements, or Instagram posts thanking 'friends' for a useful item, attendees including fashion models and social media 'influencers' are wearing and tagging brands in their playa photos.

'This means they are using Black Rock City to increase their popularity; to appeal to customers and sell more 'stuff.' Is this okay? How could it be?

'Posts of gratitude cross referenced with hashtags started off slow and innocently enough, but are now wildly out of control. Failing to make clear what behavior is unacceptable has compounded the problem.

'I recently heard rumors of more than one product or business launch happening on playa in 2018. Seriously, people. This really isn’t Burning Man.'

The moves comes in the wake of Fyre Festival, which was marketed as a three-day music event attended by some of the world's most famous models and influencers.

But after paying thousands for tickets, guests were greeted with substandard accommodation, soggy food and poor security - before the entire festival was cancelled before it even began.

Models and influencers including Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner had promoted the event on their Instagram pages. Its organiser, Billy McFarland, is now serving six years in prison for wire fraud in relation to the ill-fated event.

Elsa Hosk, Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid, Lais Ribeiro, Gizele Oliveira and Rose Bertram were among the models hired to promote the festival

Burning Man is Nevada's famed annual art and music festival and hosts a mind-bending array of art, music and live performances and is known for its free-spirited atmosphere.

Thousands of party-goers live together and participate in a range of activities before lighting a giant wooden figure, 'The Man', to the ground.

It is guided by a set of 10 principles, including radical inclusion, self-expression, self-reliance, immediacy and leaving no trace.

Marian also announced changes to ticket pricing by offering more low price tickets. She added: 'In our ongoing effort to enable participants with limited budgets, we’re growing the application-based Low Income Ticket Program by 18 per cent.

'There will be one high-priced ticket level and we’re reducing the overall number available by 30 per cent.'

The price of a Burning Man ticket starts at $190 for low-income attendees and can reach a voluntary $1,200 for those who can afford it.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
