Rolling Stone Magazine has unveiled this month's cover stars who are shaking up Capitol Hill starring Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Congress freshmen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Jahana Hayes.
The women flash smiles on the magazine's Women Shaping the Future issue that will hit stands in March.
In the features they are asked their opinions on President Donald Trump, the possibility of impeachment and how they are changing the way Congress works.
While the cover may strike as harmonious, there have been bumps between the women and in their interviews they clash over the controversial Green New Deal congressional resolution.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Congress freshmen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Jahana Hayes flash smiles on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine's March 'Women Shaping the Future' issue
The magazine featured the liberal foursome for the 'Women Shaping the Future' issue
On February 7 when Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. for New York's 14th congressional district, revealed her Green New Deal Congressional resolution with Sen. Ed Markey, Pelosi swatted the plan away and dismissed it as a 'suggestion' rather than a bill.
'It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive. The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?' Pelosi said at the time.
In the story Pelosi, who Rolling Stone hails is at the 'height of her power', continues to question the Green New Deal saying it goes 'beyond what our charge is'.
'Now, in terms of the Green New Deal, that goes beyond what our charge is. Our charge is about saving the planet. They have in there things like single-payer and . . . what is it? Guaranteed income?' she says criticizing the plan.
On the cover, in contrast, Ocasio-Cortez has affectionate arm placed on Pelosi's arm.
In their pieces AOC rallied for her Green New Deal, which Pelosi dismissed as 'beyond our charge'
In Ocasio-Cortez's interview with the magazine, the Democratic-socialist Congress freshman praised Pelosi as being the most progressive choice for speaker.
She defended her Green New Deal in her piece saying: 'What we have to do is redefine what the climate movement is about, and we have to re-define it in the scope of environmental justice.
'We really want to lay some stakes in the ground that say, "If your legislation is not dealing with jobs, if it’s not dealing with infrastructure, if it’s not dealing with bringing justice to frontline communities, then it’s not a Green New Deal." And we have a majority in the House, so why not swing for the fences?'
On Trump, the Bronx native said she'd vote for his impeachment - 'no question. I don't even know why it's controversial'.
'Yeah, everyone wants it,' she added.
Pelosi, though infamous for butting heads with the president, isn't all for an impeachment.
'It's a very disruptive process to put the country through, and it's an opportunity cost in terms of time and resources. You don't want to go down that path unless it is unavoidable,' Pelosi said.
Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a refugee and the first Somali-American in Congress, said the last two years under the Trump administration have been 'the biggest adjustment of my life'.
Rep. Jahanah Hayes of Connecticut and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota also said they feel wary under the Trump administration. Hayes urged the public: 'Do not let this psycho steal your joy'
Omar shared the Rolling Stone cover on Twitter saying: 'Our openness to refugees, immigrants and people of all faiths is what truly makes America great. No ban will change that'
'I just want to hide. But I can’t because I represent people who feel as much pain - if not more =- because they don’t have the voice that I have,' she told the magazine.
She believes Trump's impeachment is 'inevitable'.
'It also is a terrifying notion. Pence is an ideologue, and the ideology he holds is more terrifying to me and my constituents. And we have not had a full impeachment that removes the president from office. Nations struggle any time [they] overthrow a dictator, and Trump really has the markings of a dictator,' she said.
Hayes, the first African-American woman to represent Connecticut in Congress, echoed her peers' thoughts on the president saying she believes President Trump should be ousted from the White House, just not today.
'Today, I would not, because we have a process. We can be as angry as we want, but we operate in facts. I tell people, "Be careful. Don’t let a genie out of the bottle. He will not always be president". If you can remove the name and say, "I would have done the exact same thing if it were Bush, Clinton, Obama, Carter," then that’s fine,' she said.
'But don’t change policy for people, because the people will leave, and the policy will stay,' Hayes added.
Speaking on Trump she addressed the public and said: 'Do not let this psycho steal your joy.'
'We are at an intersection in history, and 20 years from now, it’s going to be the millennials and the students and the women and the single moms and the outliers who came in and restored faith in government. It’s happening,' she said.
Social media users flocked to Twitter to praise the cover that highlighted the women making strides in Congress.
However, others were quick to criticize the outlet's political movie writing 'Why is Pelosi on the cover?' and 'Poor Rolling Stone has no rock stars to put on their covers anymore'.

The women flash smiles on the magazine’s Women Shaping the Future ...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
