«Breaking News» Amazon pays NOTHING in federal corporate taxes

Amazon has paid nothing in federal income taxes for the second year in a row despite making a profit of more than $11billion, it has emerged.

The delivery giant doubled its profits in 2018 but actually received a tax rebate of $129million, a rate of minus one per cent.

In last year's filing Amazon similarly paid no corporate income taxes on its $5.6billion earnings.

The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy revealed the negative tax rate was the result of unspecified 'tax credits' and other benefits.

Which major U.S. companies have paid little or no tax?

The federal corporate income tax rate is 21 per cent, but the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy has identified a number of leading companies who pay far less, including:

Alphabet - Google's parent company paid 12.3 per cent in the first three quarters of 2018, a large reduction from the previous year

Amazon - Has paid no federal corporate income taxes for the second year in a row

Apple - Effective tax rate dropped from 24 per cent to 14 per cent in 2018

Facebook - The institute said the social media giant had paid less than half the corporate tax rate over eight years

Lockheed Martin - The defense company reportedly paid a corporate tax rate of 12.9 per cent last year

Netflix - The same think tank said the streaming service had paid no U.S. income taxes last year

Amazon has also won tax incentives to set up its two new headquarters in Virginia and New York in what the institute called further 'lucrative packages'.

Donald Trump's 2017 tax cut, which reduced the corporate tax rate from 35 per cent to 21 per cent, had 'failed to broaden the tax base', the think tank said.

The institute said: 'Last week Amazon’s leadership ran a gauntlet of public opposition in New York over the scope of the tax giveaways the company has been promised.

'But allies in Congress have, so far, shown little interest in answering the tough questions about why their new corporate tax law can’t lay a glove on one of the most valuable and profitable corporations in the world.

'And while the president himself has criticized Amazon for its tax avoidance in the past, the administration has so far displayed no awareness that its own tax package appears to have made the company’s corporate tax avoidance even more rampant than before.'

It comes amid an ongoing row between Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and the publishers of the National Enquirer, who threatened to publish nude pictures of him.

The Donald Trump-supporting magazine had revealed Bezos's relationship with TV host Lauren Sanchez, which brought the billionaire's marriage to an end.

Bezos hired a private investigator to find out how and why the Enquirer had published the information, suspecting political motivations.

He then published a letter from AMI in which they threatened to expose the intimate photos if Bezos did not back down.

AMI insisted they had conducted 'good faith' negotiations with Bezos, the world's richest man.

Earlier this month it was reported that Netflix had paid no federal income taxes either, according to the institute.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
