«Breaking News» Trump says he asked Nancy Pelosi why Democrats don't use the shutdown to impeach him

President Donald Trump told reporters that it's not possible to impeach someone who's doing a 'great job' – and says he raised the contentious subject during a closed meeting about ending the government shutdown.

In a press conference following his meeting with congressional leaders from both parties, Trump says he brought up impeachment – a topic that is swirling in Washington – with Pelosi just a day after Democrats took control of the House.

Pelosi's office confirmed Trump did bring up the topic – during his opening statement to Republican and Democratic lawmakers about the government shutdown now in its 14th day.

'And we even talked about that today,' Trump told reporters following the two-hour closed door meeting.

'You can't impeach somebody that's doing a great job. That's how I view it.'

He then recounted part of his meeting with Pelosi and the joint leadership. 'I said why don't you use this for impeachment,' Trump said, referencing the shutdown. 'She said we're not looking to impeach you,' according to the president.

'I said, 'That's good, Nancy, that's good.' But you don't impeach people when they're doing a good job,' he continued.

'And you don't impeach people when there was no collusion because there was no collusion,' he added, returning to his repeated claims on Twitter and at prior press conferences.

'It's very hard to impeach somebody that's done a great job,' he said, reinforcing the point.

Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill Tweeted minutes after Trump spoke: 'In his opening comments at the meeting, President Trump brought up impeachment. Speaker Pelosi made clear that today's meeting was about re-opening government, not impeachment.'

His statement did not touch on Trump's claim that Democrats were not looking to impeach him.

Trump spoke hours after videotape revealed new Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib telling supporters: 'We're gonna impeach the mother******' in a crude reference to Trump.

Trump said Friday that Tlaib 'dishonored herself' and said her comments were 'disgraceful.'

Congressional leaders have been trying to tamp down talk of impeachment by rank and file members, though Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerold Nalder has said Trump may have already committed impeachable offenses.

Hours after being sworn in, Democratic Reps. Brad Sherman of California and Al Green of Texas reintroduced articles of impeachment against the president, something they pushed without success in the prior Congress.

Pelosi found herself on the spot for Tlaib's comments Friday morning but insisted she wouldn't intervene with the new lawmaker, despite calling talk of impeachment 'divisive.'

'I probably have a generational reaction to it,' she said, adding: 'I'm not in the censorship business. I don't like that language, I wouldn't use that language, but I wouldn't establish language standards for my colleagues.'

Pelosi also claimed calling Trump a 'motherf***er' was 'nothing worse than the president has said.'

'I don't think we should make a big deal of it,' she declared.

The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
