«Breaking News» Tom Brady leads Patriots to victory over Chiefs to reach Super Bowl

The New England Patriots dynasty is still alive and kicking.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will have a chance to win their sixth Super Bowl title in two weeks after they dramatically dispatched the Kansas City Chiefs 37-31 in a wild and thrilling shootout game that went into overtime on Sunday.

Brady, 41, the five-time NFL champion, guided the Patriots 75 yards after winning the overtime coin toss, and backup Rex Burkhead's two-yard touchdown lifted New England over the hometown Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. 

This will be the third consecutive Super Bowl appearance - and ninth overall - by the Brady-led Patriots.

When asked by CBS how it felt to win the game, Brady responded: 'Un-f*****g-believable, bro!'

Brady and the Patriots will be making their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance - and ninth overall. As a franchise, the Patriots will have a total of 11 Super Bowl appearances - the most of any NFL team

The Patriots weathered a hostile crowd at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and survived the Chiefs’ explosive offense, led by their own gunslinger, Patrick Mahomes.

Their victory on Sunday in Kansas City makes it 11 conference championships in franchise history - nine of them won during the Belichick-Brady era.

Trump has friendships with Kraft, Brady, and Belichick. 

‘This is a really tough group mentally and physically,’ Belichick said after the game.

‘They just competed against another great football team.’ 

While it appeared there were signs that the Pats were slipping during the regular season, New England proved their doubters wrong.

The Patriots dominated the Los Angeles Chargers during last week’s AFC Divisional Round game at Foxboro.

On Sunday, the Pats once again started the game in top form, moving the ball at will on offense.

But the Chiefs roared back, led by Mahomes and his various weapons on the high-octane offensive unit. 

The overtime drive against an exhausted defense was reminiscent of when the Patriots beat Atlanta in the only Super Bowl to go to overtime, two years ago.

New England benefited from two critical replay reviews before making their ninth Super Bowl with Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick as coach.

Awaiting them in Atlanta are the Los Angeles Rams, who won 26-23 in overtime in New Orleans for the NFC championship. 

The Rams last made the Super Bowl in 2002 while based in St. Louis, losing to the Patriots.

It's the first time both conference title games went to over time. The last time both visitors won conference championship matches was 2012

'Overtime, on the road against a great team,' Brady said. 

'They had no quit. Neither did we. We played our best football at the end. 

'I don’t know, man, I’m tired. That was a hell of a game.'

The quarterback later added: 'This is crazy. What a game.' 

Burkhead finished with 12 carries for 41 yards and two scores, while rookie Sony Michel added 113 yards on 29 carries, including two touchdowns. 

Edelman led the New England receivers with 96 yards on seven grabs. 

Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski, who had 6 catches for 79 yards, said after the game that this was 'the biggest team win I’ve probably been a part of.'

Chris Hogan, the Patriots wide receiver who made clutch catches in the fourth quarter to keep his team alive, said: 'These tight games are taking years off my life.'

Hogan finished the night with five catches for 45 yards. 

Sammy Watkins caught four passes for a whopping 114 yards to lead the Chiefs’ receivers.

The Chiefs blew an opportunity to score midway through the second quarter. Mahomes connected with Tyreek Hill for a 42-yard strike to the New England 23. On the next play, Williams broke wide open on a wheel route, but Mahomes overthrew him

On Twitter, Mahomes paid tribute to Chiefs fans, saying: 'Thank you...This hurts now but we will be back love y’all for y’alls support!'

Running back Damien Williams scored three touchdowns, two off receptions and one off a rush as he added 96 yards from scrimmage.

'It was back and forth and we had opportunities,' Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. 

'We’ll figure out a way to take advantage of those down the road. 

'You’re sitting here thinking it was a pretty good year, but it’s going to hurt here for a little bit.'

The AFC Championship appearance was the first ever at home for Kansas City, which participated in Super Bowl I and won Super Bowl IV, both of which were played before the AFL-NFL merger.

'We wanted to bring the Hunt Trophy home,' Reid said of the hardware awarded to the AFC champion. 

'We’re going to get that son of a gun. We’re going to have to bear down this offseason.'

The Patriots took a 14-0 halftime lead, beginning with a 15-play, 80-yard touchdown drive on the first possession. 

The march, which began after the Chiefs won the coin toss and deferred, took 8:05, the most time-consuming playoff drive ever engineered by Brady. 

Michel scored on a 1-yard plunge.

New England, which outgained Kansas City 245-32 in the half and held a 16-3 advantage in first downs, was again at the Chiefs 1 on its second possession.

Linebacker Reggie Ragland, however, intercepted a pass in the end zone, ending a playoff-record streak of 237 pass attempts without an interception by Brady.

Phillip Dorsett tacked on a 29-yard TD snag with 27 seconds left in the half to cap a 90-yard drive by the Pats. 

Back home in Massachusetts, Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, was celebrating her husband's latest feat

Brady went in at the break with 146 yards passing, while Michel had 75 rushing.

It was the second time in history the AFC Championship Game went to overtime, joining the Denver Broncos’ victory over the Cleveland Browns in January of 1987.

Never before had both conference championship games gone to overtime in the same year.  

Back home in Massachusetts, Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, was celebrating her husband's latest feat.

The Brazilian former supermodel posted videos on Instagram showing her in a No. 12 Brady jersey. 

When the Pats scored, Bundchen posted a meme showing her husband with the banner which read 'TOUCHDOWN!!!'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
