A record 16 percent of Americans said they wanted to permanently leave the U.S. for another country in 2018, according to a new survey.
That number is consistent with 2017 data, but the desire to flee the nation is significantly higher under President Donald Trump than it was under his two predecessors, according to the latest Gallup poll.
Under the Obama administration, 10 percent of Americans reported an urge to move away forever, compared to 11 percent during the George W. Bush administration.
Women are also more likely to want to escape the U.S., with 20 percent of them ready to leave in 2018, compared to 13 percent of men.
More Americans want to leave the country under Donald Trump than under the previous two presidents, according to a Gallup poll
The proportion of men and women who wanted to move didn't differ under Presidents Obama and Bush.
Younger people were also more likely share the sentiment, with 30 percent of 15-29-year-olds saying they wanted to leave the country permanently.
The gender gap was even more pronounced among that age group: 40 percent of women under 30 said they wanted to move, compared with 20 percent of men.
In addition, 19 percent of 30-49-year-olds and 8 percent of people age 50 and older were ready to pack their bags.
Poor Americans were also more likely to want a permanent new home country – 30 percent of those in the bottom 20 percent of earners said they wanted to move, compared with 8 percent of the richest 20 percent.
Experts at Gallup said that Americans were more likely to want to leave the country if they disapprove of the job Tump is doing as president.
Overall, 22 percent of Americans who disapproved of Trump's job performance said they want to move compared to 7 percent among those who approved.
If they did follow through on their desires, 26 percent of Americans said they would go to Canada – up from 12 percent in 2016. Researchers at Gallup stressed the distinction between a desire to leave the country and actually having the intention of doing so.
'It is unlikely that Americans will be flocking to the Canadian border,' they wrote.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
