«Breaking News» James Stunt borrows £6m on Mayfair home and 'pawns' artwork in dramatic money making move

James Stunt is understood to have taken out a staggering £6 million loan using his Mayfair home as collateral, MailOnline can reveal.

Trader Stunt, 37, who divorced Petra Ecclestone last year, is also believed to have 'pawned' a £2 million painting as a guarantee for his lender.

The huge, high interest loan comes amid rumours the businessman, who boasted of making billions trading precious metals, has fallen on hard times.

His gold bullion company, Stunt & Co, is facing bankruptcy over unpaid rent worth £19,500 and he has been given a fortnight to settle the debt or face the indignity of his company being declared insolvent by a High Court judge.

Now he is understood to have taken out a £6 million loan with an investment firm using his home in Eaton Square, Belgravia, as a bond.

The luxury central London property has its own personal gym and steam room and a temperature-controlled wine cellar.

Stunt is also understood to have put up a painting from his extensive art collection to be stored away in one of the lender's vaults.

A source revealed: 'The loan relates to his personal money dealings which suggest he is close to running out of cash and his London townhouse has been put up as collateral.

His loan and bankruptcy proceedings are a dramatic fall from grace for the trader who was once worth £3 billion and enjoyed all the trappings of the mega-rich.

Following his £12 million wedding to Petra, daughter of ex-Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, at an Italian castle in 2011, he lived in a £100 million house and drove a fleet of luxury cars including Rolls Royce, Lamborghini and Ranger Rover.

During their relationship, the couple divided their time between their Grade II-listed home in Chelsea and a £158 million mansion in Los Angeles that featured 27 bathrooms and a room reserved for wrapping presents.

However, his six-year marriage to Petra ended in an acrimonious divorce battle last year, in which he let loose at his 'horrible' ex-wife and her 'dwarf ' father.

Stunt said his self-made businessman father Geoffrey did not blame Petra for the divorce but 'he definitely does blame that dwarf Bernie' for interfering in the marriage.

He attempted to rebuild his profile by declaring that he is 'as rich as ever', boasting of owning 200 cars and gambling up to £5 million per night.

The trader boasted he 'paid cash' for his house off Easton Square, west London – one of the capital's most desirable areas with Van Dycks, a Constable and a Van Gogh propped against the wall and a Picasso behind the couch.

The home borrowed against is the same property he claimed had been broken into back in December 2017 when £90million worth of cash and precious gems were reportedly stolen.

But Stunt's staff, including his former bodyguard who was keeping watch at his mansion the night of the alleged raid, insisted there was no break-in.

The Metropolitan Police dropped the case weeks later.

Stunt's marriage to Ms Ecclestone ended around the same time with her citing his 'abusive and violent behaviour' and 'drug overdoses', during their marriage which resulted in three children.

The 2018 divorce settlement between the £5.5 billion couple is estimated to have been the biggest in celebrity history.

To make matters worse, a landlord of premises used by Stunt and Co Ltd, has brought proceedings against the company at the Insolvency Court of the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

A High Court judge was issued with a petition to 'wind up' Stunt and Co Ltd by landlord, the Guardians of the Standards of Wrought Iron Plate within the Town of Sheffield of Sheffield Assay Office, earlier this month.

The Sheffield Assay Office tests the quality of gold, silver and platinum used for making jewellery, cutlery and other goods.

The judge was told that Stunt and Co Ltd, which is worth of £4.9 million and has offices in Mayfair, owes the landlord £19,449.26.

The landlord had asked for the money but Stunt's firm had failed to pay up. They added that Stunt's firm should be made bankrupt as it was unable to pay its debts.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
