«Breaking News» Golden Globes: Bond hopefuls Idris Elba and Richard Madden share sweet hug during ceremony

Idris Elba threw his support behind fellow James Bond hopeful Richard Madden during the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards at California's Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday.

The Luther star, 46, proved there's no rivalry between the stars as he shared a sweet hug while the 32-year-old accepted the Best Actor in a Television Drama award for his performance in hit drama Bodyguard.

Later that evening, The Wire's Idris continued to fuel rumours he could be the next 007 star as he jokingly took an 'awkward' selfie with the current film's protagonist Daniel Craig.

Showcasing their touching bromance, the London native jumped up to greet Richard with a hug on discovering the happy news.

Richard has been tipped to replace the current Bond since impressing audiences with his portrayal of steely diplomatic protection officer David Budd in BBC drama Bodyguard.

His bedroom antics with Home Secretary Julia Montague, played by Keeley Hawes, have also helped make him the bookies' favourite.

However, Richard was reluctant to confirm or deny that he was 'in talks' for the popular 007 role when he appeared on America's KTLA 5.

He admitted: 'It's really flattering. Although people make things up - but it is lovely to be involved in the conversation.'

The quip came after heightened reports that the Scottish star is set to be approached about the role by Barbara, who has the final say on all Bond characters.

A source said: 'It's seriously looking like he [Madden] is going to get the job. Not only is he on top of Barbara's list, but she is preparing to offer the role.'

If confirmed, Richard's selection would end a year of speculation as to who will succeed screen star Daniel.

Idris was originally the frontrunner after his impressive performance in the TV series Luther, though there has also been speculation that a female could take over the iconic role.

Speaking about the possibility of playing the iconic character earlier this year, Idris said: 'I think it’s more about, "We just want to have a black guy play James Bond" rather than, "Idris Elba, the actor, play James Bond." That’s the part I’m like, "Ugh, come on."'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
