«Breaking News» Ant McPartlin 'thanks God' no one was injured in drink-driving crash

He was charged with drink-driving in April last year, slapped with a £86,000 fine and given a 20-month driving ban.

And Ant McPartlin says he 'thanks God every night' no one was seriously hurt in the three-car collision in Richmond, London on 18 March 2018 when he was twice the drink drive limit.

The Britain's Got Talent presenter, 43, insisted his first thought wasn't for himself and his career, but for the people in the other vehicles.

Ant told The Sun on Sunday: 'When it happened, my first thought wasn’t, "Oh my God, my career’s going down the spiral".

'My first thought was, "S*** is my Mam OK? Are the dogs OK? Are the fellow passengers in the other cars OK? What happened here?

'I thank God every night that no one was seriously injured in that crash. Because we would be having a very different interview today if that was the case.'

Ant confessed his 'whole world came crashing in' at the moment of the crash, saying he felt everything on the spectrum of emotions - 'shame, guilt, remorse, embarrassment, disbelief'.

The star - who earns a reported £130,000-a-week, insisted his sentencing was fair and he deserved to be punished.

On Friday, Ant admitted he was 'really really emotional' as he was given a standing ovation on his return to work at Britain's Got Talent auditions having taken the last several months off work.

The presenter was clearly moved as he took to the stage at the London Palladium alongside BFF Declan Donnelly, who welcomed him with a warm hug, with sources exclusively telling MailOnline he's 'delighted' to be back on the show.

The source said: 'Going back on stage was really emotional for Ant. He’s delighted to be back with Dec and excited for the BGT series ahead. The reaction from the crowd today was extremely positive. They gave him a standing ovation.'

Introducing the return of Ant, Dec took to the stage and said: 'We've got a bunch of acts backstage who are eager to get out here and perform for you.

'The judges are back, the buzzers are back... and someone else is back. My co-host for this series, would you please welcome - Mr Ant McPartlin!'

The crowd then stood up and cheered as Ant walked onto the stage.

Fighting back tears, Ant said: 'Oh god, I'm really, really emotional now. I've missed you all' as Dec hugged him.

Speaking to Dec, Ant said: 'As for you! I've missed you.'

'What a lovely welcome. What a great show to come back to. I'm thrilled, I'm over the moon. Shall we crack on before I cry?'

Simon added: 'Ant welcome back. We missed you; it wasn’t the same. I mean even though Dec was brilliant, it still wasn’t the same.

'It would be like me not being with David, I would be happy, but not happy - if that makes sense. So on behalf of all of us, welcome back, we’re family. (Turns to audience) You are family!'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
