«Breaking News» Aaliyah's mother accuses back-up singer of lying about seeing 15-year-old having sex with R Kelly

Aaliyah's mother has slammed claims made by a back-up singer who alleged she witnessed the then-15-year-old singer having sex with R Kelly.

Diane Haughton released a statement on Thursday just hours before Lifetime documentary Surviving R Kelly was set to air.

In the documentary, Jovante Cunningham — one of dozens of women interviewed for the six-part series — claims she saw the then-27-year-old Kelly commit statutory rape on a teenage Aaliyah aboard a tour bus.

However in her statement, Haughton claims to have never seen Cunningham in her life, despite never leaving her daughter's side while on tour.

'The woman and so-called back-up singer in the forthcoming "Surviving..." documentary that describes seeing, meeting or ever breathing the same air as my daughter, Aaliyah, is lying and is a liar,' she said.

'My husband an I were always on tour with her and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career. Whoever this woman is, I have never seen her before anywhere on planet Earth, until now.

'These lies and fabrications cannot be tolerated and allowed to be spewed from the forked tongues of saboteurs of Aaliyah's legacy,' she continued.

'Shame on all those involved in this project who thought it kosher to drag Aaliyah's name into a situation that has nothing to do with her today. Once again, this will not be tolerated.'

That same year the alleged incident occurred, 1994, it was widely reported Kelly and Aaliyah had secretly married, though they both denied it.

A subsequently-unearthed marriage certificate listed his 15-year-old protegee's age as 18; her parents had it annulled the following year.

Kelly's lawyers have sent cease and desist letters to Lifetime, threatening to sue if the documentary airs on Thursday night as planned.

According to TMZ, he claims the subjects made false allegations to become famous, and he also claims to have proof the network knows some of the girls are lying.

However Lifetime told the site they are pushing ahead, insisting: 'Lifetime has always been a brand that champions women’s stories.'

The eye-opening six-part docu-series interviews dozens of former friends, family members and colleagues, who all make grim claims about the singer abusing women and young girls.

A private preview screening held in New York last month had to be evacuated following a number of bomb threats.

In a sneak preview of the documentary seen by People, Cunningham claimed she was on a tour bus in 1994 when she seen Kelly and Aaliyah having sex.

'On a tour bus, there really aren’t many confined spaces,' she said. 'When you get on the bus there are bunks and so these bunks have little curtains you can pull at night if you don’t want anybody to see you sleeping.'

'So it just so happened we were all laying in our bunks and the curtains are open, everybody’s communicating, laughing, when the [room] door flew open on the bus,' she recalled. 'Robert was having sex with Aaliyah.'

When asked what she saw, Cunningham replied: 'Things that an adult should not be doing with a child.

'I can’t stress to you how people are still suffering behind things that went on 20 years ago.'

Kelly went on to become Aaliyah's mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her double platinum debut album, the uncomfortably-titled Age Ain't Nothing but a Number.

Aaliyah cut ties with Kelly after the accusations of illegal marriage; she died in a plane crash in 2002 shortly after filming a music video in the Bahamas, aged just 22.

Last year several women came forward claiming Kelly had been running a sex cult, and in May a woman filed a lawsuit against him claiming that he had treated her like a sex slave.

Link hienalouca.com Interesting to note Looking for an investor or sponsor for a project to grow dinosaurs and relict plants. Requires the sum of investments from 400000$ to 900000$. The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
