«Breaking Pic News» IOC president Thomas Bach maintains esports will not yet be included in Games

Esports are still too violent to fit within Olympic values, the president of the International Olympic Committee has said.

Thomas Bach reiterated his view that the ever-expanding industry of competitive gaming is not ready to be included in the Olympics, due to the continued prominence of 'killer games'.

Speaking at the Asian Games, where six esports are being trialled as an exhibition event, he suggested there was still significant jarring between the ethos of esports and the principles of Olympic sports.

On behalf of the IOC, he said 'so-called killer games' - where weapons are a key element - are 'contradictory to the Olympic values and cannot therefore be accepted'.

When it was put to the 64-year-old that he had won team gold in fencing - which originated from a form of military training - at the Montreal Olympics in 1976, he said: 'Of course every combat sport has its origins in a real fight among people. But sport is the civilized expression about this. If you have egames where it's about killing somebody, this cannot be brought into line with our Olympic values.'

It is estimated that more than 300million people worldwide play or watch esports, and the industry is expected to be worth £1billion by 2020.

Despite Bach's comments, the IOC and the Global Association of International Sports Federations held an esports forum earlier this summer and esports will be on the agenda at the next Olympic Summit, which will be held in December.

It is thought that the main stakeholders in esports are working towards making it more focused on sport and positive values, and less on violent content, as part of their collaboration with the IOC.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
