«Breaking Pic News» Adam Lallana 'inconsolable' as groin injury forces him out of England squad

Adam Lallana has suffered more England heartache after his return to Gareth Southgate's squad lasted less than 24 hours.

The Liverpool midfielder missed the World Cup due to the effects of an injury-ravaged season but England's head coach wasted no time in restoring him to his group after Lallana came through the early a rigorous summer regime without issue.

Lallana reported for duty at 5:30pm on Monday but by 3:30pm Tuesday he was heading back to Melwood, Liverpool's headquarters, to undergo scans on a groin issue that forced him to pull out of the morning session at St George's Park.

It is understood Lallana consulted with England's medical team during a break in training and complained of tightness; he walked back to the dressing room and, within two hours, he had left the camp.

Though the injury is not something that is likely to keep Lallana out for months, the timing of it could not be worse and he was said to be inconsolable. He has only played four minutes in the Premier Leagues so far and was desperate to figure against Spain and Switzerland.

'He has just picked up a muscular injury,' said Southgate. 'It was quite close to the beginning of training so it is the worst thing as far as we are concerned because you never want to send players back injured. Adam has had such a difficult run personally.

'He is a player we think so much of and I know Jürgen does. He is having a difficult run and you review what you might have been able to do differently but it was out of the blue. I'm really disappointed for him because he has had such a tough year.'

A further worry for Southgate - who saw Raheem Sterling withdraw on Sunday evening with a back issue - is that captain Harry Kane is suffering with a heavy cold; the Tottenham striker only took part in a small part of yesterday's session, having played on Sunday against Watford.

Southgate has not made a decision at this stage about whether to call up attacking reinforcements - he may look to include Leicester's James Maddison or Demarai Gray for next Tuesday's friendly at the KingPower Stadium - but his immediate focus is on Spain.

There was an addition to the camp yesterday, however, with Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli joining the roster. Southgate said: 'We felt it useful to bring another goalkeeper in for training. Marcus is another player we have worked with in the Under 21s in the past.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
