One of Gomis' brothers had also reportedly died from gun shot wounds only a few weeks ago.

Saint-Etienne released a statement on Monday to confirm Gomis had passed away late on Sunday evening.

It read: 'AS Saint-Etienne had the immense sadness to learn of the tragic death of William Gomis, which occurred last night.

'Appreciated by his former team-mates and educators for his human qualities, the young player, who would have turned 20 in December, did all his training at the club where he had arrived at the age of 15.

'The club's leaders, coaches, players and employees are deeply affected by William's sudden death and offer their deepest sympathies to his family.'

Gomis, who is understood to be related to former Swansea striker Bafetimbi, left Saint-Etienne in the summer after spending five years at the club despite reportedly being offered a new deal.

He never made his senior debut, but represented their B team in the Championnat National 18 times last season and wore the captain's armband regularly.

His former Saint-Etienne team-mates paid tribute to the 19-year-old with a number of emotional posts on social media.

Anthony Maisonnial, who came through the club's youth ranks alongside Gomis, wrote on Twitter: 'I am shocked and especially sad.

'When I was called that night to be told, I thought I had a nightmare. All our moments and delights we have spent together will remain forever in my memory.

'Today my brother you left for the big trip. My prayers are going to you. May God open the doors of paradise. I cry as I say I love you my brother.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
