Meteorologist Donnie Cox was forced to evacuate from the TV studio in North Carolina as Hurricane Florence threatened the building with a potentially deadly rise in flood water.

Rivers in the waterfront city of New Bern began to overflow, swamping the streets with flood water and forcing residents to evacuate the area.

Broadcaster WCTI captured the moment the forecaster announced on live TV the station had to be evacuated, as he slowly moves off camera leaving viewers to watch the storm graphic swirling in the background.

As Cox described the situation in Myrtle Beach, he then announced WCTI's sister station would carry on the coverage of the storm as the building needed to be evacuated.

Cameras carried on rolling as he calmly shuffle out of the shot.

He said: '...is going to continue our coverage so we can continue the evacuation of this building because of the rise in water.

'We're going to take you now to the coverage from our sister station in Myrtle Beach.'

He was said to be one of the last members of the team to stay behind to keep residents 'up to date' on Hurricane Florence.

The forecaster initially said he would stay in the newsroom to keep viewers up to date, but less than 20 minutes later he was forced to get out of the building.

He added: 'We have the situation that has developed here at the station and that is water is getting close to the building.

'The building has been evacuated, just so that you know. We are staying here to keep you up to date.'

Hurricane Florence hit the south-east coast of the US last night with winds of up to 90mph and a storm surge of 10 feet.

Around 150 people were left waiting to be rescued in New Bern and in Jacksonville, North Carolina, flood water knocked down gas pumps and trees, while residents were warned to avoid roadways.

More than 60 people including children had to be pulled from a collapsing motel in the city.

The tourist hot-spot of Myrtle Beach was left deserted as many residents fled their homes in fear of the storm.

At least 12,000 people sought refuge in shelters in the state and nearly 300,000 customers were reported to be without power as the outer band of the storm approached.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
