«Breaking News» The Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts in critical condition after fall at home

The Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts is in critical condition in a Florida hospital awaiting brain surgery following a fall at his home in Little Sarasota Bay home.

The 74-year-old guitar player, one of the iconic band's founding members, will undergo the critical operation on Friday, according to a statement on his website.

The musician was injured Monday 'while playing with the family dog,' as he 'slipped and cracked his head, causing bleeding from the brain,' according to the statement.

Health crisis: The Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts, 74, is in critical condition in a Florida hospital awaiting brain surgery following a fall at his home in Little Sarasota Bay home earlier this week, according to his rep 

He's currently 'listed as in critical but stable condition,' said his manager, David Spero.

Betts' wife Donna and their kids are with Dickey as he's sedated in a local hospital.

'Dickey is a notorious fighter and he is displaying that now!' she said. 'The family appreciates all of your thoughts and prayers during this very trying time.'

Betts in August suffered a mild stroke at his home, and was steadily recovering and responding 'very well to treatment' at the time of his fall earlier this week.

Betts, who sang and played guitar for the musical outfit, was also responsible for penning songs including Ramblin' Man and Jessica.

He has canceled a spate of shows slated for November amid the ongoing medical situation, according to his site.

'It was just a few days ago that Dickey was telling me how excited he was to get back in front of the fans on November 1,' his manager said. 'It is very unfortunate, for all involved, that we need to cancel those shows.

'Please add Dickey into your thoughts and prayers.'

Betts and Jai Johanny Johanson are the two living members of The Allman Brothers Band, as Gregg Allman died May of 2017 after a battle with liver cancer, while drummer Butch Trucks died of January in that year.

The band has a tragic history littered with premature deaths, as Duane Allman was only 24 when he died in a motorcycle crash in October of 1971 in Georgia, while bass player Berry Oakley was also 24 when he died after a motorcycle crash close to the location of Allman's crash in November of 1972.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
