«Breaking News» Women in their 80s and 90s advice for younger generations telling them to 'be determined' and 'kind'

Twelve women in their 80s and 90s have shared the advice they would give to their younger selves and encouraged women to 'always enjoy their life to the full.'

The group of women, who all now live in care homes across the UK, stressed the importance of 'always being truthful,' 'kind and understanding.'

Two of the women interviewed, Margaret Crowther, 91, and Anne Gallagher, 82, both encouraged younger generations to 'be determined' and just 'go for it.'

In the inspirational video, released by Care UK, most of the dozen women used their wise words to tell others to trust themselves and strive for their dreams.

Mary Scates, 92, who lives in Bury St Edmonds, thought this was important too and said: 'Be honest to other people, to yourself - just be yourself. Enjoy yourself, without doing any harm to anybody else'.

Rita Atkinson, 87, who lives in Stowmarket, Suffolk, added that she'd ask women to: 'Always to be truthful, and most of all, always to be kind and understanding.'

Anne Gallagher, 82, from Bromsgrove, said: 'Go for it, go for what you want to do – and give it your best shot. Don't give up at the first hurdle - or two.'

Margaret Crowther, 91, said: 'Make sure you know what you want to do, and be determined to do it'.

For Joyce Bloom, 91, who lives in Stowmarket, pictured right now and left on her wedding day, being happy was her biggest advice as well as 'helping other people'

For Pam Alleyne, aged 85, Leamington Spa, the most important life lesson was to remember that life is too short.

She said she would advise her younger self: 'Live every moment and take each day as it comes, because nobody knows how long we've got'.

The wise women's words come after International Women's Day last week.

Jacqui White, marketing director at Care UK, said: 'International Women's Day is a time to celebrate the successes and stories of women.

'We want society to recognise the wealth of expertise and knowledge stored in the minds of older ladies like those in our video.

'It was wonderful to hear about the lives of women who lived through a social revolution, witnessing the changing attitude towards equality – but also to hear that the attitude of determination was fiercely alive in these women at a time when equality wasn't a given.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
