«Breaking News» Trump boasts ICE will take more than 1 MILLION into custody this year

President Donald Trump claimed Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security is apprehending people on the U.S.-Mexico border at a pace that would reach 1 million by the end of 2019.

'We are on track to APPREHEND more than one million people coming across the Southern Border this year,' he said in a tweet.

'Great job by Border Patrol (and others) who are working in a Broken System. Can be fixed by Congress so easily and quickly if only the Democrats would get on board!'

Trump's number includes people who cross into the U.S. for illegal purposes and those who come with the intention of turning themselves in and making asylum claims, according to Jessica Vaughn, policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies..

'Officially “apprehensions” means anyone arrested by the Border Patrol,' Vaughn said Thursday. 

'That includes both those who were trying to sneak in and those who wanted to be caught in order to claim a fear of return and be released into the country (“asylum seekers”).' 

U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Tuesday published statistics for February, showing a marked increase in border apprehensions.

The agency reported a 30 per cent increase in apprehensions from January to February. If Trump's claim of 1 million is based on a projection for the 2019 calendar year, the growth rate would have to continue unabated for the total to reach 1 million.

Trump also renewed his attacks on congressional Democrats, claiming they could hvae a significant impact on the surge of border-crossers if they embraced his funding priorities. 

Republicans controlled both houses of Congress during Trump's first two years in office, but they made little headway on his immigration reform priorities including his long-promised border wall.

Now with Democrats in charge of the House of Representatives, Trump has little chance of persuading them.

The president declared a national emergency last month, assuming the authority to repurpose billions of dollars – mostly in the Defense Department – that hadn't been earmarked for specific projects.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
