«Breaking News» TOWIE EXCLUSIVE: Georgia Kousoulou admits Mike Thalassitis' suicide 'really shook me up'

Georgia Kousoulou has spoken out on Love Island star Mike Thalassitis' tragic suicide, admitting his death has really affected her following her boyfriend Tommy Mallet's own mental health battle.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at the launch party for series 24 of TOWIE on Monday night, Georgia spoke emotionally about beau Tommy's struggle last summer.

Georgia said that Mike's death this month 'really hit home for me because Tommy was in that place.'

'Do you know what, mental health is a hard thing, god bless Mike and his family,' she told MailOnline.

Mike was found dead on March 16 in Edmonton, North London, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

'That really shook me up. It really hit home for me because Tommy was in that place. He was in a bad way through summer, it really scared me because I wish Mike would have opened up to anyone, or even me.'

Georgia said although she didn't know Mike, she felt a connection with him. 'I didn't know him but I had gone through it with Tommy and it really upset me, it's not something I can speak loosely about,' she said.

The TOWIE favourite admitted she is so relieved Tommy opened up about his struggles last year, with last series' finale of TOWIE showing him break down as he revealed his difficult few months.

'It's a serious thing. I'm so glad Tommy spoke out about it,' said Georgia. 'How Tommy coped was through talking and showing his emotions. He never cries so when he cried I was like "woah" it was huge. It's inspired other people to talk.'

Tommy received wide praise from fans after he bravely discussed his struggles with mental health issues on an episode of TOWIE last September, breaking down in tears after recalling to Georgia his depressive episode.

'I woke up one morning I just sat there and looked at a wall. I couldn't leave the house. I know it was only a few days but still. It was scary,' he said.

Having experience some of his darkest moments alongside her beau, Georgia responded: 'That's why I called your dad, it was awful.'

With emotions starting to bubble up, Tommy admitted: 'I feel like I need to do something to people. I need to sort myself out first more than anything but I'd like to try and help people, because it can be naughty.

'Young men if you're going through something and you don't talk about it, it can f*** you.'

Breaking down in tears following his heart-wrenching confession, Georgia comforted her beau, telling him: 'I think you're being really brave, I think you're doing really well'.

The emotional moment clearly struck a nerve with many viewers, who took to Twitter to share their thanks for Tommy's openness, with fans hoping his brave actions will lead others to get help.

Tommy - who's found success outside of Essex with his hugely successful trainer brand MALLET - previously spoke to MailOnline about how he was was fueled by a desire to stand up to bullies who humiliated him when he was 12 because his family couldn't afford to buy him the latest fashionable clothes and trainers.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
