«Breaking News» Supermodel Ashley Graham slams the label 'plus size'

Supermodel Ashley Graham has slammed the 'plus size' label - saying curvy women should never be described based on their clothing size.

The Sports Illustrator swimsuit star - who's in Australia for the Melbourne Fashion Festival - has been redefining the modelling world with her famous curves.

Appearing on The Project, the 31-year-old called on the fashion industry to avoid using terms such as 'plus size' or 'size eight' to define models.

'To have an industry say, "Oh, this is the plus size model". Why do we have to describe a woman because of a number inside of her pants?' she said.

'Why can't we just say her name or her occupation and that be it? Men don't do that. They don't say "my plus size friend" whomever.

'So why would women have to do it? Just [say] model.'

Despite modelling since the tender age of 12, Ashley said she still finds her pictures being retouched or edited.

'There's still so much retouching that's happening, trying to change who we are,' she said.

'But I think that models and women of a certain size start standing up and saying, "hey, we're demanding that you respect us. And that you don't change who we are".

'I've had people try to manipulate my body for years. But I stand firm of who I am.

'For women out there, you can have cellulite, you can have back fat, you don't have to be full retouched to be owning who you are and be on the cover of a magazine.'

She said she's looking forward to the day she's no longer defined for her size.

'Because I am the first of so many things, I'm going to have to talk about this for the rest of my career and that's okay,' Ashley admitted.

'I didn't have a role model growing up that looked like me, that was talking like me, that would talk about cellulite on her arms and be okay about it.

'But I think that we need to start changing the conversation away from diversity and just show up, have it, it just do it not just talk about it.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
