«Breaking News» R. Kelly appears in court to get his child support payments lowered

R. Kelly returned to court in an attempt to lower his child support payments, four days after he was bailed out of jail yet again when an anonymous donor paid off the $161,000 he owed his ex-wife for past payments.

The singer, flanked by his legal team, arrived at the Daley Center in Chicago on Wednesday morning to reduce the $21,000 child support payments that go to his ex-wife Andrea Kelly for their daughter and two sons.

By the end of the sealed hearing, a judge refused to reduce the payments and a new court date has been set for May 8 to continue debate over it.

'If you can’t play a show, if you can’t go out on tour, if they’re not streaming your music anymore, obviously you’re going to have financial problems. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out,' his attorney Steve Greenberg said, as per CBS

Kelly's publicist added that Kelly has no assets to sell and he can't even sell his home in Trump Tower because he rents the condo.

At the Wednesday hearing Kelly's attorney Johnson argued that the child support payments don't make sense as the singer's two eldest children Jay Kelly and Joann are 21 and 20 and are legally considered adults. The third child, Robert Kelly, is 17 soon to be 18.

The R&B singer turned himself into police on sexual abuse charges on February 22  and spent three nights in jail, and was freed when a suburban Chicago daycare owner posted his $100,000 bail.

Kelly was brought back to prison on March 6 for his owed child support, and was bailed yet again thanks to an anonymous person paying that debt.

Cook County Chief Policy Officer Cara Smith said the person wanted to remain anonymous.

The I Believe I Can Fly singer and his ex-wife have a bitter relationship that exploded in 2017 when she reportedly banned her children from speaking with the singer.

She was expected to be at the Wednesday hearing.

She claims that Kelly cut her off financially in a manipulative move to control and punish her after she spoke out publicly about how he allegedly abused her, according to TMZ.

Kelly has been charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Just last month the Cook County State's Attorney revealed that new allegations have surfaced where at least three women claim the famed singer abused them while they were minors.

Kelly's next hearing on the charges is scheduled for March 22.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
