«Breaking News» Pucker up! Diver comes face-to-face with a shark and it KISSES him in amazing underwater footage

This is the breathtaking moment a diver comes face-to-face with a large blue shark - before it appears to give him a kiss

In the extraordinary footage, captured last week during an expedition off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa, marine scientist Kevin Schmidt is shown hanging motionless in the water as the shark approaches him.

On reaching him, the animal puts its mouth to his head and appears to touch his goggles with its tongue.

After getting a taste of his goggles in what looks like a kiss, the shark carries on its journey.

Mr Schmidt, who works as an environmental consultant in Cape Town, then looks a little baffled as he tilts his head and raises his hands to the camera.

He later said that the moment was something to 'treasure forever'.

The blue shark then appears to kiss his goggles with its tongue, before swimming off to leave Mr Schmidt amazed by the experience

'On this particular trip, we were located 34 kilometers south west of Cape Point where we hovered in six metres of water for over an hour with four blue sharks and three mako sharks,' he said.

'Sharks in general are portrayed in such a negative light which does not reflect their true demeanor.

'Sensationalism portrays violence and power which overshadows the grace and beauty these creatures possess.

See you later! Now that it has worked out what he is, the blue shark swims away to continue its journey

'By ignoring 'Hollywood instincts', you can feel their presence in the water and it truly evokes the opposite of fear.

'Excitement, wonder, and curiosity- which is clearly mirrored by them in this picture.

'If you see a shark, consider yourself lucky and treasure the moment forever.'

The footage was shared on Instagram by photographer Steve Woods, who works in marine conservation, where it has been viewed over 20,000 times.

'Sharks are very inquisitive, they need to touch and feel with their mouths, especially due to their Electro-receptors that are located in little pits around their mouths,' he wrote.

'There is absolutely no aggression here, and you just understand what the shark is doing and keep your cool, then you might be lucky enough to get a little kiss.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
