Potential presidential hopeful New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio spent Sunday morning awkwardly flapping his arms while a South Carolina church pastor and the congregation belted out disgraced R. Kelly's 'I Believe I Can Fly.'
De Blasio, 57, spent the weekend at campaign-style events in the Palmetto State with his wife, Chirlane McCray, in addition to the brief interlude where he witnessed the singing of a song by R. Kelly, who was arrested in February for 10 counts of felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and again on Wednesday for failing to pay child support.
Now that longtime, Big Apple mayor Mike Bloomberg has said he won't run for president, de Blasio could be the next in a long line of Democrats to launch a presidential bid.
South Carolina is one of four states that probable candidates use as a barometer when testing the presidential waters. It votes early in the nomination process, giving it more weight, in terms of momentum, than other states.
Candidates who fail to finish at the top of their class in South Carolina's primary contest often drop out of the race altogether.

Video of de Blasio shared by New York 1 political reporter Courtney Gross showed de Blasio half-heartedly flapping his arms for a moment, before clasping his hands as the members of the Victory Tabernacle Deliverance Temple church sang the song by the accused sexual predator.
'I wonder if the @NYCMayor realizes who sings this song [thinking face emoji] #SouthCarolina,' Gross tweeted.
De Blasio has not spoken publicly about the allegations against the singer, who has maintained his innocence amid years of accusations of abuse against him.

De Blasio tweeted a photo of himself, Butler and McCray while thinking his fellow mayor for his hospitality.
De Blasio and McCray also attended a Democratic breakfast and a roundtable hosted by the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center.
De Blasio and McCray discussed mental health alongside Bakari Sellers, a political commentator and former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives.

On Saturday, de Blasio tweeted: 'Great to start the morning in Columbia with the Northeast Democrats. They know real lasting change comes from the grassroots. Every time they go out there and knock doors, they’re building the wave that will change South Carolina forever,' along with a photo of himself speaking at a Democratic breakfast.

Two weeks ago, de Blasio made a solo trip to Iowa — his fourth trip to the state since 2014.
He talked about his campaign to end homelessness, paid family leave and health care at a Democratic gathering, the New York Times reported from Iowa.
The big city mayor also pushed a message of unity as he took a read-between-the-lines jab at the sitting president.
'If you look at the everyday discourse, you might think this is a country mired in division and that conservative forces are dominant. I think it’s quite the opposite,' he said. 'I think this is a country waiting to be unified.'
He declined to attack Trump personally, in a preview of how he would campaign if he announces.
'We’re not going to win by talking about Donald Trump. I have deep respect for our previous nominee. I know her very well, but I think that was one of the mistakes,' de Blasio said.
He was referring to former New York senator and 2016 nominee for president Hillary Clinton. She is a favorite target of President Trump's to this day on social media.
Should de Blasio decide to run, he wouldn't be the only New Yorker trying to get out from under Clinton's shadow in the race. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a New Yorker who took Clinton's seat in the upper chamber, has a fully-fledged presidential exploratory committee.
Gillibrand signaled this week in a CBS News interview that she's putting the final pieces in place to make an official presidential announcement.
De Blasio remains undecided on even a committee, despite trips to early-voting states like South Carolina and Iowa.
His wife seemingly ruled out a 2020 bid for the White House for her husband at the end of January, only to to be overruled in a formal statement from his office.
McCray said in a 'Women Rule' podcast that her husband would 'be a great president' — but the demands of his current job make it difficult for him to compete nationally.
The church where the video of de Blasio was taken as they sang 'I Believe I Can Fly' shared an announcement of his then-upcoming appearance over social media on Thursday
Her husband's office said in a statement to Politico afterward that the mayor remains undecided about a bid, however.
'As the First Lady said, the mayor is focused on his job,' de Blasio's communications director told the publication in a February 25 email. 'But they’re not ruling anything out at this point.'
McCray had said the 'timing is not exactly right' for a presidential campaign.
'But look at what he’s done,' she said. 'The safest big city in the country. Pre-K for all—and let me tell you, looking at 70,000 pre-K students … if New York can do it, anybody can do it, right? And guaranteed health care for all. Those are huge accomplishments.'
She said those are the issues that she'd like to see a Democratic presidential candidate take on.
'I’m looking for someone like that. I’m looking for someone who could take on those kinds of tough battles and make that happen for everyone. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?' she said.
In Iowa, the day before his office broke with McCray on the topic, the mayor said he would decide on a campaign after he discussed it with his family. He said the decision is a 'personal' one they will make together.
The decision may have become easier when Bloomberg said he will not run for president in 2020, ending a guessing game about his political future.
The 77-year-old former New York City mayor, one of the richest men in the world, announced his decision not to join the crowded Democratic field in a Bloomberg News editorial on Tuesday.
Bloomberg flirted with a presidential run before, but as an independent. He re-registered as a Democrat last fall after six years as a Republicans and 11 as an independent.
Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday that he won't run for president next year, ending a political guessing game whose outcome could have shaped the race
And he spent recent months courting primary voters as a political centrist.
But as an older white man with strong ties to Wall Street, he likely would have struggled to win over the Democratic Party's energized liberal base that's increasingly embracing diversity.
Bloomberg is expected to play a similarly active role in the 2020 election from the outside. His team has been preparing a massive data-driven effort to help defeat President Trump.
He said Tuesday that he would launch a 'grassroots effort' to move America 'as quickly as possible away from oil and gas and toward a 100 percent clean energy economy.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
