«Breaking News» New Jersey man arraigned for murders of brother and his family

A New Jersey man accused of murdering his brother, sister-in-law and niece and nephew last year, allegedly because he was about to be cut out of the family business for stealing more than $75,000, pleaded not guilty on all counts on Monday.

Paul Caneiro is accused of shooting his brother Keith, shooting and stabbing his wife Jennifer then stabbing their two children, Jesse, 11, and Sophia, eight, on November 20.

Their bodies were found at the family's burning mansion after Paul had allegedly set fire to it. He also set his own house alight in an attempt to shift suspicion from him but was arrested days later.

Prosecutors say Paul had become panicked that he was going to be cut off from his more successful younger brother's business.

THE CHARGES

Murder x 4

Felony murder x 2 (In these charges, the prosecution does not have to prove that he intended to murder his niece and nephew)

Aggravated arson x 2

Possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose

Possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose

Unlawful possession of a firearm

Unlawful possession of a knife

Theft

Misapplication of entrusted property

Hindering apprehension x 2

He was arrested and arraigned last year on four counts of murder but last month, was hit with an additional 12 charges including stealing from the family.

Paul returned to court on Monday to plead not guilty to those charges.

The night before the murders, Keith made contact with associates and told them that money had gone missing from Square One, the technology company the brothers founded together but which Keith ran.

He told an associate that he would stop making payments to Keith's wife until he find the missing money, according to prosecutors.

Paul, 52, has denied the killings.

According to prosecutors, he went to his brother's home in the middle of the night on November 20.

First, he allegedly confronted Keith outside the property. He is accused of shooting him then stepping over his body to get into the house.

He then allegedly shot and stabbed Jennifer before stabbing the children in their beds.

Caneiro then allegedly started a slow-burning fire in the mansion's basement and fled.

He went back to his home and, according to police, set another fire to make it look as though both brothers had been targeted.

His family then contacted the authorities and were seen standing outside their own house while his brother's home went up in flames nearby.

Prosecutors say Paul shot his brother then shot and stabbed Jennifer before 'repeatedly' stabbing his niece and nephew in their mansion and then allegedly went to the basement of the home and set a fire that would take hours to get going. By the time police were called to Keith's house, it had been several hours since Paul allegedly set it on fire.

Paul's wife Susan and two adult daughters Marissa, 23, and Katelyn, 26, are supporting him

At a hearing earlier this month, his lawyer said: 'Mr Caneiro loves his brother, loves his sister-in-law like a sister, loves those children.

'He would never do anything to harm them,' he said.

Caneiro is facing life imprisonment if convicted.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
