Karen Clifton has revealed she was refused a haircut from a barbershop who turned her away because she is a woman.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, 36, became emotional in a video uploaded to Instagram where she told how she was turned away from Jacks of London, despite having her hair cut there twice before.
She said: 'I don't ever really do posts like this but I thought this was really important because this has never really happened to me before. I just went to get my haircut to a barbers, Jacks of London.

'I had gotten my haircut there before just on the sides, a fade, it's my new look. I had been there twice before. I went over today to get a haircut and they said I wasn't allowed to because I was a woman.
'I was like, "what? I've been here before". And they said, "no, the owner doesn't allow women to get their hair cuts here."'
Karen began to tear up as she recalled the encounter and described it as 'ridiculous'.
She also claimed there were two barbers free when she entered the establishment but was still refused service.

She said: 'And I felt really cr*p because this has never happened to me before. The fact that I was a woman and couldn't get my hair cut because it's all male.
'What are we, in the stone ages? It really affected me. I'm not getting anything fancy done. Even if I was, the fact that I was turned away because, no women allowed.
'There was two barbers that were free and there was only one customer in.
'When I've gone there before to get my hair cut, I've gotten it done by two women. But the time there was no women in there and I went in and they said I couldn't get my hair cut.

'This is ridiculous. I've never felt this before. I've never experienced this before and it feels awful and it's not right. It shouldn't be that way.'
Karen also voiced her frustration on Twitter, saying she felt like she had been punched 'right in the put of [her] stomach'.
She wrote: 'When I was told this morning by @jacksoflondonuk that I wasn’t allowed to get my haircut because I was a woman.
'I felt like I was punched right in the pit of my stomach and felt so angered and quite frankly in disbelief that this actually happens to a lot of women out there.'

Sue Whitehead, founder of Jacks of London, told MailOnline: 'Earlier this morning TV celebrity Karen Clifton was informed that Jacks of London does not cater for women.
'Her experience has alerted us to the need to make it explicit to our entire team that Jacks of London does give barber cuts to everyone, regardless of gender.
'However, we must also emphasise that Jacks of London is a barber store, specialising in barber cuts.
'Later this year it will celebrate 25 years as a traditional store for men who do not want to go to a hair salon, preferring, instead, to hang out where there are wall-to-wall sports, video games and clippers buzzing.
She added: ''I felt like I was punched right in the pit of my stomach and felt so angered and in disbelief that this actually happens to a lot of women out there' (pictured in March 2019)
'The Jacks of London brand is now synonymous with quality service and outstanding barbering and so, increasingly, women are coming to us for technical cuts by our award-winning barbers.
'Indeed, Karen Clifton has had her short hair done twice before at our store without event. But these are specific styles.
'Many of our barbers have had hairdressing and barber training, but not all. Barbers and hairdressers require different skills and training; a hairdresser may stumble over cutting a pattern in a fade while a barber would struggle to cut a bob.
'This is why there tends to be a gender divide between hair salons and barbershops, but for anyone of any gender who wants an undercut, as Karen currently sports, a tight fade or a short, back and sides, Jacks of London barbers CAN AND WILL deliver.'

Karen is currently dating opera singer David Webb, 34.
The pair were first spotted together in February of 2018, shortly before Karen announced her split from husband Kevin after three years of marriage.
Kevin was crowned winner of last year's Strictly Come Dancing with documentary maker Stacey Dooley, 31, in December - marking it the first time he had ever taken home the Glitterball trophy.
Despite the couple's split, Kevin told BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans in July: 'We wanted to let everyone know that privately we’re not together anymore, but professionally we are stronger than ever.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
