«Breaking News» Husband nearly runs wife over as he tests Tesla's autopilot by having her step out in front of car

A tech vlogger has come under fire for using his wife as a guinea pig in a 'dangerous' experiment to test Tesla's autopilot function.

YouTuber KriszXstream filmed himself driving towards his spouse - who then steps out in front of the speeding car.

He uploaded a nine minute and 57 second video of the trial runs, which shows at least one shocking near miss as his wife is forced to run out of the vehicle's path.

Multiple people have been killed in recent years when their Tesla autopilot failed to prevent crashes the way the cars were originally designed to do.

'Now we're going to test autopilot to see what happens when someone is going to run in front of the car,' KriszXstream said at the start of the video.

During the first test run, the husband accelerates to what appears to be 30-35 mph before turning on his autopilot about 100 yards away from his wife.

As the car approaches at about the same speed, the wife slowly walks across the highway, but she starts to run at the last minute when the vehicle gets too close.

The husband simultaneously hears an alarm go off inside the car's cabin.

'OK. It brakes. There's an emergency beeping, and then it carried on,' he said. 'For a second I thought it's not gonna brake. But now it brakes,' he added with a laugh.

Virtually the same thing happens during the couple's second attempt, which again seemed too close for comfort for KriszXstream's wife.

'It did brake. There's beeping. There's kind of a late emergency brake,' he said.

'It's far too late,' his wife responds with a smile as she leans into the passenger side window wearing a red Tesla sweatshirt.

'Was it too close?' her husband asks.

'No, no not really,' she replies.

This goes on for several minutes, with the couple changing conditions slightly during each test.

At one point, the wife stands in the middle of the road while the auto-piloted Tesla accelerates towards her and stops before hitting her.

The husband seems satisfied that the mechanism works properly, but his wife wasn't completely sure yet.

'What if I stand sideways?' she says laughing.

'OK we can try,' the husband responds. 'She's going to stand sideways this time and then we'll see what happens then.'

The married couple's final test involved putting the wife's purse in the road. The Tesla comes to a complete stop, but not before knocking the bag over

The diligent duo manages to test the car at least five times without anyone getting injured.

For their last test, the wife places her purse in the middle of the road. As the car approaches the purse, it begins to slow down, but not before knocking the bag over.

'It hit my bag. It's still alive, I would say. You hit my bag, bud,' the wife said to her husband.

'It's still alive. I think it's weeping. We hit it. It braked, but it still hit it at a low speed,' her husband responded.

YouTube viewers weren't too pleased KriszXstream using his wife as a guinea pig.

'I would take this video down if I were you guys...' Master Zebulon wrote.

'i (sic) don't know who is dumber...you or your wife?' Matt DeRusha added.

Someone eventually posted the video on Digg with the title, 'Idiot Husband Tests Tesla Autopilot By Having His Wife Walk In Front Of The Speeding Car'.

KriszXstream took issue with the title and his critics, addressing them in the comments section of his YouTube video.

'Firstly, I had my foot on the brake and I was "speeding" with 30km/h (18mph). Now that's what you call speeding??? a bicycle goes faster than that,' he clarified.

(The digital speedometer in the Tesla showed the car was moving between 30-35, but it did not specify whether or not that was in kilometers or miles.)

'[Second]' KriszXstream continued, '[my wife] was not in front of the car by the time I got there, and it was also not too close. It could look that way from my camera point of view, but it was not... 3rd: I was driving the car as she was not confident doing the driving as I drive the car the most, she is not that used to it as I am.

KriszXstream even offered to re-shoot the video with the roles reversed to prove how safe Tesla's autopilot really is.

'We were actually having fun making this,' he said. 'You could call us, or me idiots or whatever you want, but it was not a dangerous test.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
