«Breaking News» How MKR's Austin Bonwick dropped 35kg in bizarre self-invented 'pumpkin diet'

Josh and Austin Bonwick have become recognisable faces as they stir the pot on the latest season of My Kitchen Rules.

But before they hit TV screens, the homeschooled brothers looked quite different.

The MKR 'villains' admitted to Daily Mail Australia they were both substantially heavier before dropping 55kg between them.

Younger brother Austin, 21, said he weighed 115kg before he decided to follow a bizarre diet he invented himself, which he dubbed 'the pumpkin diet'.   

'I was pretty fat, I was pretty chubby,' he said.

Describing the rules of the diet Austin explained: 'It’s eating pumpkin, sweet potato, and normal potato and potato chips.

'I think I did it about eight months. It was sort of vegan a little bit but I went on and off it and I just kept doing it.'

Austin revealed he lost 35kg and now weighs around the 80kg mark.

Exercise was also involved in the drastic weight loss, and the reality said he would also run 10km a day while following the diet.

But the strange diet wasn't without its downsides, with Austin admitting: 'I had really bad acne, like really bad. It was because it was so high in carbohydrates.'  

'I was a very chubby teenager': Meanwhile, Josh credited the Paleo Diet for his 20kg weight loss and revealed he once weighed 110kg

Austin's older brother Josh, 25, also underwent his own physical transformation, losing 20kg following the Paleo Diet, which is favoured by MKR judge Pete Evans.

'I love the Paleo Diet. I was a very chubby teenager and I switched to Paleo and lost all the weight,' Josh said.

'I think I was like 110kg. Then I dropped it down to about 90 - 93kg just through Paleo Diet and some light exercise... nothing too hardcore.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
