A shadowy group believed to be protecting the son of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's assassinated brother declared the formation of a 'legitimate interim government' on Friday.

The Cheollima Civil Defense (CCD) organisation, which offers to assist people in defecting from North Korea, has dedicated itself to abolishing the 'great evil' of the current regime.

The CCD emerged in 2017, when it posted an online video of Kim Han Sol and announced it had guaranteed his safety after his exiled father was killed by two women who smeared him with nerve agent in Kuala Lumpur Airport.

The group posted a lengthy statement on its website in both Korean and English on Friday to coincide with the 100th anniversary of a Korean movement against Japanese colonial rule.

In the statement, the group announced itself as a provisional government-in-exile called 'Free Joseon'. Joseon is an old name for Korea.

'We dedicate ourselves completely to the abolition of this great evil, a stain on the very soul of humanity,' it said, saying it will continue its campaign to 'the day that light is truly restored to Pyongyang'.

It claimed to be 'the sole legitimate representative of the Korean people of the north' and said it was establishing 'the basis for building a country that respects human rights and humanitarianism and respects the honor and dignity of all women, men and children.'

It added: 'Joseon must and shall be free. Arise! Arise, ye who refuse to be slaves!'

The group also posted a video of a woman dressed in an old-fashioned black and white hanbok - either turned away from the camera of with her face blurred - reading out the statement in front of a traditional Korean pavilion.

Little is known about CCD and it is unclear who is behind the organisation - although some have speculated it has links to South Korea's spy agency.

Kim Jong Nam, the eldest son of then North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, was exiled in 2003 and became an occasional critic of his family's brutal regime. He was assassinated with VX nerve agent at Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia in February 2017

It is named after a mythical winged horse commonly depicted in East Asian mythology, who is said to be too powerful and elegant to be mounted by a mortal.

The group uses South Korean transliteration for the name, while some of the Korean text on its website reads as if it could have been a translation from English.

In the past the group has said it responded to urgent requests for protection from 'compatriots' and has thanked countries including the Netherlands, China and the United States for their help.

MYSTERIOUS GROUP 'RESCUED' KIM JONG-NAM'S FAMILY

Mystery surrounds a secretive group that claims to be behind the 'extraction' to safety of Kim Jong-Nam's family.

Video purportedly showing Jong-Nam's son was uploaded to the YouTube page of previously unknown group, Cheollima Civil Defense (CCD).

The group claimed to have plucked vulnerable members of Jong-Nam's family to safety with the help of the Dutch, US and South Korean authorities, and was keeping them under protection in an undisclosed location.

On its website CCD said that it was protecting Kim Jong-Nam's family.

'Cheollima Civil Defense responded... to an emergency request by survivors of the family of Kim Jong-Nam for extraction and protection. The three family members were met quickly and relocated to safety,' it said, also in English.

'We have in the past addressed other urgent needs for protection,' it asserted.

'This will be the first and last statement on this particular matter, and the present whereabouts of this family will not be addressed.'

The group thanked countries 'for the emergency humanitarian assistance afforded to us in protecting this family' including the Netherlands, China and the United States, plus an unspecified fourth government.

It praised the Dutch ambassador to South Korea, Lody Embrechts, in particular 'for his timely and strong response to our sudden request for assistance', calling him 'a credit to the people of the Netherlands and their long and principled stance for human rights and humanitarian norms'.

Kim Sung-Min, a high-profile defector who operates an anti-Pyongyang radio station, said the group appeared to be associated with activists based in the United States.

A statement on the CCD website, titled 'For the people of North Korea' says: 'If you want to escape or want to share information, we will protect you. It can be in any country. We will send you safely to the place you want to go. We, who have already helped many North Koreans, do not want any price.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
