«Breaking News» Felicity Huffman and husband William H Macy’s $20 million real estate portfolio

It was revealed in court last week that actress Felicity Huffman would be released on $1 million bail following her arrest on a single charge of mail fraud in connection to her alleged actions in Operation Varsity Blues.

At that time, it was noted that Huffman and her actor husband William H Macy had managed to amass a real estate portfolio over the years that is now valued at $20 million.

DailyMail.com was able to track down these impressive plots, from their cabin in upstate Vermont and Huffman’s childhood home outside Aspen to their massive Los Angeles compound, which expanded a few years back after the two purchased their neighbor’s property.

The smallest property of the bunch is the one that Macy seems most proud of, and one he owned long before he met Huffman.

In the 1980s, the actor purchased a cabin in Vermont near Goddard College, his alma mater.

If anyone knows the importance of college it is Macy, as Goddard is where he met the man who would change his life and vice versa in David Mamet.

The now-famed playwright was teaching at the school at the time, and he and Macy went off to form the Atlantic Theater Company, which Huffman would later join.

FELICITY HUFFMAN'S REAL ESTATE RICHES

Little Woody Creek Estate - $10M

Los Angeles Compound - $8M

Los Angeles Mediterranean -  $2.5M

Los Angeles Bungalow - $1M

Vermont Cabin - $300K

Macy described the property in a 2006 piece for The New York Times.

‘My little cabin actually started as three cabins. They were part of a motel called Toy Town, and they sat out on Route 2 until Daphne, the woman I bought the place from, moved them. I hooked them together, so although the cabin is only about 400 square feet, it has about 12 roof lines,’ said Macy.

‘On one side of the largest cabin there was a little door that opened to a fuse box. I didn't have electricity, but I left the door there. One summer, for no good reason, I opened the door and a writhing mass of garter snakes fell out all over my feet. I jumped so high I left one of my shoes.’

That cabin is also where director Paul Thomas Anderson was staying when he wrote the script for his epic third feature film, Magnolia.

He has said in the past it was those very snakes that inspired the film, as he was too afraid to go outside after seeing one on the porch.

Their other vacation property is on 27 acres in Colorado, and is the same property where Huffman grew up and where she was later married to Macy.

The structure on the property had to be demolished because it was not up to code after Huffman made the purchase, and in 2018 Architectural Digest got a look at the newly remastered property.

In the end the changes increased the value of the property to over $10 million, with Huffman sharing the plot with the other women in her family.

‘Thus the “old-new house," as the couple calls it, has the same basic structure Huffman grew up with, but expanded and shifted 100 feet to the left of its original location. Now, each of the five upstairs bedrooms contains its own bathroom (a stark contrast to Huffman sharing one bathroom with her six sisters),’ wrote the reporter of that piece.

‘They also threw out dead space like the formal dining room, opting instead to have roving dinners in several rooms. A weathervane-topped cupola still resides on the roof, but they pried off the pantry door marked with heights of their kids, and moved Huffman’s mom’s bright yellow kitchen cabinets into Macy’s woodworking shop.’

That story also notes how Macy did a bit of the carpentry on that home as well, located in Little Woody Creek, just north of Aspen.

Macy joked in that interview that the home was the ‘Hollywood version’ of the original, saying: ‘At one point I went in and said, “This thing is more complicated than Versailles! We’ve got to simplify it.” They even called in a trompe l’oeil guy who did the switch plates and the covers of the music speakers!’

That was not the couple’s first time in AD, with the magazine previously profiling the couple in 2000 after they restored a Los Angeles property in the Hancock Park neighborhood.

They purchased the 1920s Mediterranean after getting married, and filled it with wood furniture handmade by Macy as well as things the two picked up during their honeymoon in Istanbul.

Huffman and Macy also own a small home in Los Angeles' Northridge neighborhood.

Then there is the compound.

The couple went from critically-acclaimed actors to global superstars almost overnight back in 2004 following the success of Huffman’s television series Desperate Housewives.

Forbes reported that in the final two seasons of the show alone, Huffman took home $17 million for her Emmy-winning work.

Once cameras had stopped rolling, she and her husband purchased a 4,566-square-foot home with five bedrooms and three bathrooms in the Outpost Estate neighborhood of Los Angeles.

That is where Marilyn Monroe and Gore Vidal once live, and where Huffman and Macy were already living at the time.

The home they purchased was actually next door to their own Hollywood Hills home, giving them a massive three-acre complex with two main houses.

Real Estalker reported at the time that the $3.8 million property included ‘a good-sized motor court, a semi-detached three car garage, broad flat lawns in both the front and back and a large swimming pool surrounded by a palm tree dotted terrace.’

Their own home was purchased in 1998, and has undergone major renovations over the years.

It is now valued at $4 million, bringing the cost of the combined compound to just under $8 million.

The couple has been renting out that new property for $19,500 per month while living next door in their own massive estate, and a few years prior to recreating Huffman’s childhood home had sold a Colorado vacation home for $3.95 million.

Huffman’s real estate holdings have proven to be smart investments over the years, unlike the $15,000 she allegedly donated to a charity which federal prosecutors now say was a front to pay off proctors and school officials who were able to assist struggling high school students gain admission to the schools of their - or perhaps more accurately their parents’ - choice.

Federal documents show that while Huffman worked alone to iron out the details when the couple's first daughter allegedly had her SAT changed by a proctor to improve her score, Macy was aware of the situation and the payment came from the couple's joint account.

He in turn took a more active role in organizing the younger daughter's fradulent SAT, agreeing to the money and a set place and time much like his wife had done one year prior with their other child.

In that case however, the couple's daughter achieved the results she had hoped for on her own and the mastermind behind the operation was informed that she would not be needing to submit a fraudulent score.

This does not mean Macy will not be charged down the line in the case.

That would explain why Macy was not identified by name in court documents filed Tuesday and instead referred to as Huffman's spouse.

Huffman paid a $15,000 'charitable contribution 'to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter,' states the complaint.

'Huffman later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her younger daughter, before deciding not to do so,' according to the documents.

The charging documents state that Huffman had the site where he daughter took the SATs moved from her own high school to a test center West Hollywood.

That was to avoid a teacher who knew the girl, who had also applied for and received extended time to take the test, from being present.

The girl's test was then administered by a proctor who had flown in from Tampa and told investigators that he 'facilitated cheating, either by correcting the student's answers after the test or by actively assisting the student during the exam.'

That proctor, Mark Ridell, has also been charged.

In this case, Huffman's daughter scored a 1420, which was a 400 point improvement from her PSAT results just one year prior.

Soon after the proctor was paid $40,000 by Key Worldwide Foundation, the same organization that Huffman would later give a $15,000 donation to, according to the documents.

The documents also include the transcript of a phone call between Huffman and the individual who facilitated the test in which she admits that her older daughter had assistance and expresses her desire for her younger daughter to get similar help.

In a follow up call just this past December, Huffman and her unnamed spouse spoke about their daughter wanting to get into Georgetown.

It was then decided that the young girl would take the exam twice, once on her own and once with help, to ensure she got the score necessary to get her into Georgetown, it is claimed.

Then, at the last second, the couple decided not to have their daughter take the test with assistance.

Macy appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon to support his wife, and was seen arriving with a lawyer.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
