«Breaking News» Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson faces backlash for praising 'sexy AF' army tank named after him

The Rock is not only built like a tank, he's now a literal tank, thanks to the US Army's 1st Armored Division — but it's an honor that not everyone is quite so thrilled about.

The 'Old Ironsides' Twitter account shared the news that soldiers in the 1st Squadron 1st Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Bliss, Texas, christened one of its tanks Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, in honor of the hugely popular action movie star and WWE wrestler.

'"If you smell what America's Tank Division is cooking!" Shoutout to the #IronSoldiers assigned to the @Blackhawk_SQDN for naming one of their tanks in homage to the @TheRock. Hopefully the 'People's Champ' will see it and give you guys a shoutout and a retweet!' the 1st Armored Division's official Twitter handle wrote on March 12.

The tweet, which referenced both of Johnson's WWE-adopted monikers and his tagline, included a photo of the tank with Johnson's name stenciled on the main gun.

Three days later, Johnson caught up on his mentions and shared his gratitude and thoughts about being the tank's namesake.

'Salute of respect & gratitude to the @Blackhawk_SQDN @1stArmoredDiv for the honor of naming their tank, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Heavy duty and bad ass, but most importantly, thank you for your service,' the actor tweeted on March 15.

He also took to his Instagram account to share the news with his fans, elaborating on his Twitter message by noting that the tank in question is 'the most advanced in the world' and that it's 'Heavy duty, bad a**, sexy AF and built to take care of business,' he wrote, adding a winky-face emoji.

'Finally, a name that fits a bada** vehicle like this,' cheered rangers_lead_theway on Instagram. Meanwhile crazybird669 enthused, 'Holy S**t!! That's my hubby's 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team that just returned from the Middle East. Proud Cavalry Wife that love her some The Rock!!'

While the majority of the comments on both of Johnson's Twitter and Instagram announcements were positive, not all of his fans were so thrilled with him sharing his name with a lethal and effective war machine.

'Therock now in a country near you, blowing up your kid,' wrote Instagram user udontneedtoknowuknow.

'How much innecent [sic] people is that tank gonna kill,' pondered jankees8888.

'"Built to take care of bussiness" [sic]...like killing children for money,' wrote fadarin89.

bendujour chided, 'tanks kill people - not sure if that's "sexy af,"' while msund wrote, 'can't belive [sic] you support this s**t? Those guys on the other site [sic] of the line are great men to [sic], with family at home also.. War is a loosers [sic] game - be better!'

And zakster90 pointed out, 'It is 'cool', until its needed for war... then it won't be so cool to see the a [sic] cannon with your name blasting buildings and people to bits.'

Johnson has yet to weigh in on the tank naming controversy that appears to be tearing his fandom in half.

The actor is a long-time support of the US military and revealed on Facebook in 2016 that he has multiple family members who have served in the military, including as soldiers in the Vietnam War and as Navy SEALs.

In 2017, Johnson partnered with the USO to give service members and their families an advance screening of his film, Jumanji, before it hit theaters at the Hawaii's Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
