«Breaking News» Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern joins Haley Lu Richardson at The Chaperone premiere in NYC

She stars as Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham in the hugely successful PBS Masterpiece series Downton Abbey


But on Monday night in New York, Elizabeth McGovern was all about promoting another PBS period drama, her new film The Chaperone.


The actress, 57, reunited with co-star Haley Lu Richardson, 24, at the premiere for the movie set in the Big Apple in the early 1920s.

McGovern looked gorgeous in a one-shoulder plush red dress that fell to just below the knee.


She added shiny silver heels with ankle straps and carried a silver box clutch purse.

Richardson opted for a pretty patterned frock that mixed various shades of purple. 


The short-sleeved number was gathered at the waist creating a plunging neckline and she added silver sandal heels.

The Chaperone is based on Laura Moriarty's best-selling novel of the same name.


It was adapted for the screen by Downton Abbey creator and writer Julian Fellowes and directed by Michael Engler who also helmed the new Downton Abbey movie.


The film tells the story of a teen dancer, played by Richardson, who moves from Kansas to seek fame and fortune in New York City.


She is accompanied by a respectable society lady from her rural hometown, played by McGovern, who finds her life transformed by the experience. 


Other castmembers who attended the special screening included Victoria Hill and Blythe danner.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
