«Breaking News» Dishwasher's co-workers handed him over to the cops for kicking a woman in the face on the NY subway

The New York restaurant dishwasher who was arrested for assaulting an elderly woman riding the subway was handed over to police by his own co-workers.

Marc Gomez, 36, was arrested on Saturday for repeatedly punching and kicking a 78-year-old woman riding a Bronx train on March 10, in an attack all caught on video.

Footage of the vicious assault was shared by police this weekend and racked up 13million views in an attempt to identify him.

Gomez worked as a dishwasher at the acclaimed Tribeca restaurant Frenchette and was immediately recognized in the viral video by his co-workers, leading the eatery owner to call the cops.

'I called the police immediately and gave them his name and address,' Frenchette co-owner Sean Cunningham said to the New York Post on Monday.

Police first went to Gomez' home address but didn't find him there. Then detectives arrived to the restaurant, which has been awarded the esteemed James Beard 2019 award, on Saturday morning to apprehend him while he was at work.

Cunningham says that the entire restaurant worked carefully to make sure Gomez didn't expect a police ambush.

'There were not many staff in the kitchen at that time, he was one of the first there, and we made sure not to spook him,' Cunningham said.

Thanks to the staff's ploy, detectives were able to arrest Gomez without any trouble.

'The detectives arrested him in the kitchen dish-washing area and took him away, still wearing his kitchen whites,' Cunningham said.

Following the incident, Frenchette changed its hiring policy to amp up the background and reference check process for dishwashers, who typically don't undergo the same kind of background checks senior staffers go through.

Cunningham added that Frenchette wants to extend a helping hand to the victim and a free meal.

'We are extremely worried about his victim, who we are told is a retired kindergarten teacher, and we would like to offer her any help we can, at the very least a free meal at the restaurant. But we don’t know how to contact her, so we are asking for the public’s help,' he said to the outlet.

Gomez was apprehended on Saturday for the brutal assault of the elderly woman on the Bronx train earlier this month, but had a track record of prior assaults as well.

He was arrested in November, stopped on the Cross Bronx Expressway by police who found a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun plus ammo in his car, cops say.

He also has old, sealed arrests for assault, gun possession, and marijuana possession, sources said to the Post.

For the viral subway attack he was charged with felony assault and was ordered to be held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Gomez' lawyer and fiancee Asia (she has not released her last name) claim that the elderly woman had been taunting him as he rode on the train with Asia and her young daughter.

Asia says that she was riding the train with Gomez and her 11-year-old daughter when the woman started yelling at them screaming 'I’ll stab you and your wife and your child'.

When the stabbing threats escalated to killing, the couple saw the woman allegedly had something in her hand, leading Gomez to launch the assault.

On Saturday police announced Gomez' arrest and stated that the unidentified victim was treated for her injuries in a hospital and released and is receiving proper care.

A former neighbor of the woman told the Post that she is mentally ill and has threatened three people in the past with a knife.

They said she is a retired kindergarten teacher who had moved out of the residence three or four years ago.

'She was just mentally ill,' they said. 'She wasn't paying rent. She threatened at least three co-opers with a knife. She used to call the fire department, cops, all the time.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
