«Breaking News» Cormorant swallowed by the infamous 200ft Lake Berryessa Glory Hole lives to fly another day

The cormorant that was swallowed by the infamous 'Glory Hole' in California has reportedly survived the ordeal.

A video of the bird being sucked down the 200ft deep Glory Hole at Lake Berryessa in Napa Valley went viral earlier this week.

The video, which was posted to Facebook, shows a lone cormorant being swept into the hole, apparently unaware of what awaited it.

It was initially believed that the bird didn't survive, but Rick Fowler, the Lake Berryessa water resources manager, is saying otherwise.

Fowler, who recorded the video, told ABC 10 that he actually saw the make it out on the other side.

'It shot out of there like a bullet,' Fowler said.

'It flew through the turbulence and came out of the water shaking water like it didn't [know] what had happened,' he added.

However, experts believe otherwise.

Brionna Ruff, the spokesperson for the Bureau of Reclamation, which owns the spillway, said it is unlikely the cormorant could have survived that precipitous a fall.

‘From what I understand that water is going down really fast and when things come out the other side... I don't want to get really graphic,’ Ruff told SFGate.com

Not only was the cormorant at the mercy of gravity, but it also would have had to survive the intense water pressure.

In the clip, the Glory Hole is seen in the overflowing lake, which channels excess water from the reservoir to a creek down below.

The overflow was the result of heavy rains which drenched Northern California in recent weeks, according to SFGate.

This was only the second time in 12 years that the Glory Hole was overflowing.

In 1997, a woman fell into the Glory Hole and did not survive the 200ft drop, at the bottom of which is an 8ft-wide pipe that routes water down a creek.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
