He's one of the most stylish men in the showbiz world.

But David Beckham wasn't afraid to mock his past fashion failures as he appeared in a hilarious sketch for Comic Relief on Friday evening.

The football legend, 43, appeared in a clip during the fundraising marathon to joke that his previous questionable looks were in fact sponsored by the Red Nose Day charity.

Speaking to the camera, David said: 'Like a lot of people, I've done some really daft things to raise money for Comic Relief.

'For example, in 1998 I got sponsored to appear in public wearing a sarong, it was tough but worth it.'

Keeping a straight face, he continued: 'Then in 2003 I was sponsored to go outside with my hair in braids, embarrassing.

'Then in 2010 I raised over £600 being sponsored to share a bath with James Corden.'

As he spoke, various Polaroid images appeared on screen, showing the exact moment of his fashion fails.

The father-of-four continued: 'But this Red Nose Day I have decided to keep it simple, I'm going to stay home, not do anything weird, watch the show and just donate - and you can do all that too.'

But after the director yelled cut, David walked out of the room and hilariously revealed that he was wearing a black and white sarong.

Comedian and presenter James Corden was then heard calling the star, telling him to hurry up and join him in the bath as he didn't want to miss the charity show.

Showcasing his funny side, David then called back: 'Bagsy not the tap end.'

To which James replied: 'I don't care what end you sit, just remember you're doing my nails.'

David's now infamous sarong look came during the 1998 World Cup in France, when he stepped out with wife Victoria Beckham, who at the time was his fiancée.

Despite being ridiculed for the beach look, David has often defended his choice to wear the garment, saying in a past interview: 'Sarongs are great.

'That's one thing I never regret because I thought it looked great and I would still wear it now.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
