The former Attorney General Dominic Grieve has finally exhausted the patience of his local Tory members, it seems.
He is one of the most implacable opponents of Brexit, and determined to stop us leaving the EU. The trouble is that his Beaconsfield constituency voted to Leave.
The result is that Grieve will face a no-confidence motion at his annual Tory association meeting on March 29. If the vote goes against him, it could lead to his eventual deselection.
Grieve is the first Tory Brexit refusenik to face a challenge to his authority from party members.
Tory MP Dominic Grieve is set to face a vote of no-confidence in his Beaconsfield constituency
The meeting will take place at the Bull Inn, Gerrards Cross, which first opened in 1688, the same year as the Glorious Revolution which saw the overthrow of James II as King.
Grieve was warned at the last annual meeting that he was on probation.
‘At best it’s 50/50 that he can win the vote,’ said my mole, who has tired of Grieve lecturing and hectoring about Brexit.
‘Not only did the constituency vote to leave, but the party members are massively in favour of an orderly exit.
'Grieve has been a good constituency MP, but he’s lost the plot on Brexit.’
Wilson's dog-whistle politics
In A House of Lords debate on policing, the Lib Dem Lord McNally said: ‘I have only one experience of working closely with a police dog.
Former Prime Minister Harold Wilson wasn't popular among police pooches, according to Lib Dem Lord Tom McNally
‘It was when I worked for the Labour Party and went to a conference in Blackpool with the then Prime Minister, Harold Wilson.
‘The police dog assigned to us was a magnificent-looking animal. When out of sight or hearing of the Prime Minister, his handler would show us his party piece.
‘He would say, “Harold Wilson”, and the dog would go “Grrrrr!” — which showed just how well these dogs can be trained.’
And what his handler thought of the Labour PM.
A night at the theatre
A telling observation from novelist Jeffrey Archer.
‘I do wish Jeremy Corbyn had accompanied Mary and me to the National Theatre last night — as we passed the Dorfman Theatre & Clore Learning Centre, then entered the Wolfson Gallery, before seeing Sondheim’s magnificent musical, Follies.’
Dorfman, Clore, Wolfson, Sondheim . . . all brilliant, all Jewish.
Labour member Lord Melvyn Bragg says opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn should leave the party
'Corbyn should leave Labour'
Labour luvvie Lord Bragg pulls no punches with his latest remark on the Labour Party’s crisis, reports the New Statesman magazine.
‘The trouble with Labour voters, including me, is that we’re very loyal,’ Bragg insists.
‘I’m not going to leave Labour. Corbyn should leave Labour.’
Rehearsing for the future
The ambitious Dominic Raab, who quit as Brexit Secretary in November, has declared in the Commons register of interests £6,500 of benefits from Melior Advisors.

What can he possibly be rehearsing for?
Quote of the week
Hapless Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley, after her foot-in-mouth statement that killings by the military and police during The Troubles were not crimes: ‘I want to be very clear — I do not believe what I said, that is not my view.’
No rest for Goodwill
Sacked as a junior minister in January last year after 12 years on the front bench, Tory Robert Goodwill wrote then about the relief of returning to the backbenches.
‘For the first time in years, I am actually in Yorkshire with my long-suffering wife on a Thursday,’ said the MP for Scarborough and Whitby. No longer.
Goodwill was back in the Government last week as Farms Minister after the resignation of George Eustice over the Article 50 vote.
Jonathan Dimbleby (left) used to anchor ITV's election coverage, while brother David (right) would anchor the BBC coverage
Case of Dimbleby double vision
Jonathan Dimbleby, who’s retiring from anchoring Radio 4’s Any Questions after 32 years, following older brother David’s departure from Question Time, has said his late mother, Dilys, always watched both her sons at election time.
She achieved this by having two television sets in her sitting room.
Jonathan remembers: ‘When I was anchoring the election for ITV and David was doing the BBC, my mother would say to us: “Of course I watched every minute of it it, darlings.” ’

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
