Britons are rejoicing at the prospect of a snow day after blizzards swept across the UK overnight blanketing the nation in crisp, white powder.
But as commuters wrap up warm and head to work, some have noticed a suspicious lack of fellow travellers and have taken to social media to share the deserted stations along with the hashtag #Snowmageddon.
Despite the thick snow and the amber warning issued by the Met Office, Britons are seeing the fun side of the day, sharing pictures of their early snowman attempts and picturesque village pub dusted with the February frost.
Some have even taken their #Snowmageddon preparations to extreme lengths, stocking their fridge with dozens of bottles of milk (semi-skimmed), should the worst happen and they need endless cups of tea to sooth their woes.

Assistant manager Charlotte Barron said: 'All 36 rooms were full, we set up 15 makeshift beds in the restaurant, five in the lounge as well as blankets and duvets on the floor.
'It was actually a lovely atmosphere - we brought out all our board games and complete strangers were playing against each other.
'A lot of people made friends - probably for life - with one room being occupied by five people who didn't know each other.'
Those taking shelter included about a dozen children, an eight-month-old baby and 'two dogs and their four humans'.
Ms Barron added: 'There were still people arriving at 5am - the furthest one person walked was eight miles to get here.'
Her selflessness was shared by seven of her colleagues - manager Ms Wheeler and staff Ashely Brown, June Parker, April Dawe, Tina Wright, David Bailey and Joe Pearson.

Mr Burton told MailOnline: 'I have travelled around nine miles since I left work but we are stuck now. It's really not a nice place to be right now.
'The lorry has jackknifed at the top of the hill and there's a recovery truck there – but the snow has been building up around us while we have been sat here. I've tried to move and I can't.
'There's about 25 of us – pretty much everyone is just trying to get home from work. I've got another hour and a half to drive – but that's in normal conditions.'
Mr Burton, who started a new job yesterday, has seen gritters travelling southbound but nothing on the northbound carriageway.

'We haven't moved for over three hours, the snow just came down really hard and really quick and the ground froze underneath it.
'The snow at the side of the road is about 3ft deep and anyone trying to get anywhere is just sliding. One gritter just came past and it didn't make the slightest bit of difference'
Mr Slymm said that he had recently taken his car to the garage, and luckily was completing the drive in a brand new grey Mini Cooper.
He continued: 'We're going to be here all night I think, luckily we've got 3/4 tank but the people next to us only have half a tank left.
'Everyone is helping each other and asking if each other are ok, if someone runs out of fuel we'll take them in.'
To make matters worse, Mr Roome and Mr Slymm have recently bought a puppy and are travelling with the young animal - and have to keep braving the conditions to get it water.
'We've got a 13-week old puppy with us and we're worried about her', Mr Roome said. 'We didn't have any water in the car so we had to melt some snow.

Newborn baby girl found abandoned in a Tesco bag in freezing London park is named Roman after road where she was discovered - as police urgently try to find her missing mother
A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in an east London park last night as temperatures plunged to freezing and blizzards hit the capital.
Police this morning released a picture of the infant in a bid to trace her mother, who officers said they were 'increasingly concerned' for.
Nurses are calling the youngster 'Roman', because she was found on Roman Road in Newham.
She was reportedly found in a Tesco bag, wrapped in a towel, shortly after 10pm and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police this morning released this picture of the baby in a bid to trace her missing mother
The force said it was called to reports of an abandoned baby at a park area close to Roman Road and Saxon Road at around 10.15pm
The Met said officers are growing 'increasingly concerned' for the mother's welfare and appealed for her to contact police, her local hospital or GP surgery. Pictured: the location where the newborn was found
The Met said officers are growing 'increasingly concerned' for the mother's welfare and appealed for her to contact police, her local hospital or GP surgery.
In a direct appeal to the child's mother, Inspector Shane Clarke of North East Command Unit, said: 'We are growing increasingly concerned for your welfare and I urge you to make contact either with police, your local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know that you are safe.
'I would also urge anyone who has information that could help us to reunite this baby with her mother to come forward.'
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the mother is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference CAD7825/31JAN or Tweet @MetCC.
Heavy snowfall hit much of southern England and and Wales on Thursday night, leaving people trapped in cars as temperatures plummeted to just 1C (34F) in east London at the time the baby way found.
The snowfall already exceeds the maximum 10cm of snowfall that was predicted when the Mt Office issued a severe weather warning for Thursday.
The snow, which has been travelling eastwards, has reached as far as Wiltshire, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent, with a few flakes in central London on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday morning.
The Met Office tweeted: 'Snow, initially moving north and east across parts of southern and southwestern England, the Midlands and Wales, will stall and tend to fragment.
'Wintry showers will continue in northern and eastern areas. Ice is likely in many parts overnight.'
There are 'treacherous driving conditions in places', the forecaster added.
Commuters in many parts of the country were warned to leave work early on Thursday to ensure they got home.
Frozen pupsicles! MailOnline readers share their wonderful photos of Blizzard Britain (and there's a LOT of dogs enjoying the snow)
Dogs have been making the most of the snowy conditions across Britain this week as they go exploring in the wintry weather.
And these great photographs sent in MailOnline readers show just how much fun their pets are having in the snow – despite temperatures falling as low as -15C (5F).
Children were also pictured looking out of the window at the conditions, while cats nervously treaded over the white stuff in some back gardens.
Snowfall and icy conditions are expected to cause widespread travel disruption in the UK this morning amid a pivoting system of wintry weather over the country.
Much of southern England and Wales woke up to more of the white stuff after the UK's coldest night since 2012. Up to 5.5in (14cm) of snow fell in the South West.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
