Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris said 'yes,' she believes President Donald Trump is a racist.
She cited his comments on the 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, a report from last year that the president referred to some African nations as s***hole countries, and his descriptions of immigrants in her reasoning.
'Well look, when you talk about his statement on (Charlottesville), when you talk about him calling African countries s-hole countries, when you talk about him referring to immigrants as rapists and murderers, I don't think you can reach any other conclusion,' Harris said in an interview with The Root published Tuesday.
The California senator was asked if she agreed that the president is a racist.
'I do. Yes, Yes,' she replied.
Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris said 'yes,' she believes President Donald Trump is a racist
President Trump has repeatedly defended himself from such allegations and has said he is not a racist
Her remarks are her most declarative to date on the president.
She was critical of Trump's response to the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, when the president noted there 'very fine people' on both sides of the issue, but she had stopped short of branding him a racist.
'Racism is real in America, sexism, anti-Semitism, transphobia, homophobia - these things exist in America,' she said at CNN town hall meeting in Iowa shortly after she announced her presidential bid. 'We have seen when Charlottesville and a woman was killed that we've had a president who basically said, well, there were equal sides to this.'
Trump has used harshly critical language of immigrants on the campaign trail as he has advocated for his border wall.
In his May 2016 presidential campaign rally he called undocumented Mexican immigrants 'rapists', 'murderers' and 'criminals.'
'When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best, they're not sending you,' he said when he announced his presidential bid. 'They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us,' he continued. 'They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.'
Trump has repeatedly defended himself against the allegation he's racist.
'No, No. I am not a racist,' he said in January 2018 after his comments about calling African nations s***hole countries was revealed.
'I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed. That I can tell you,' he told reporters at the time.
He was also accused of making racist comments by his former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman.
In her book 'Unhinged,' Newman alleged Trump was caught on tape using the n-word on the set of 'The Apprentice,' the reality show where they met.
She wrote on her 'growing realization that Donald Trump was indeed a racist, a bigot and a misogynist' during her time in the White House.
The White House charged Newman with lying and called her 'disgruntled former White House employee.'
Trump, himself, called her a 'lowlife.'
But race relations will likely be a repeated topic in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary.

Trump has called immigrants 'rapists' and 'criminals'
Sen. Cory Booker, the other African American candidate in the race, was cautious in his characterization of the president.
'I don't know the heart of anybody,' he said on the day he announced his presidential campaign. 'I'll leave that to the Lord.'
'I know there are a lot of people who profess the ideology of white supremacy that use his words. And I believe his failure to condemn bigotry and racism, I believe that when he makes comments on African countries, when he challenges and demeans the ability for federal judges to do their job because of ancestry - that's bigoted language,' he noted.
But other contenders, like Bernie Sanders were much more blunt in their assessment of the president.
He is 'a pathological liar, a fraud, a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe and someone who is undermining American democracy as he leads us in an authoritarian direction,' Sanders said of the president in his announcement video.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
