The surgeon who reattached John Wayne Bobbitt's penis 25 years ago after his wife Lorena cut it off at their home has spoken out to reveal he was never paid for carrying out the procedure nor was the hospital or any of his colleagues.
Dr. Jim Sehn was the on-call on June 23, 1993, when Bobbitt's wife Lorena severed his penis with a kitchen knife while he slept. She later claimed that he had raped her in their home and was drunk and that she was acting out after years of abuse.
Lorena fled their home afterwards, taking the penis with her, then tossed it out of the car window in a field.
It was retrieved by police and later taken to the hospital where Sehn and a plastic surgeon reattached it.
When Bobbitt arrived at the hospital in Manassas, Virginia, he had a sheet covering his groin.

'I was the unlucky urologist on call that night in my hospital.
'At 4 in the morning when Bobbitt arrived holding a sheet over his groin, the missing part was usual urological territory, so that’s why I got called.
'I was on my way into the emergency room, not knowing much about the case other than that the patient had presented with an amputation of the penis, and at that point in time the organ, the whereabouts of the organ, was completely unknown, so thinking it through on the way into the hospital it looked like I would be doing nothing more than what we call a perineal urethrostomy — in other words, converting to a female plumbing system, which is a pretty brief and quick operation.
'It wasn’t until I got into the emergency room that I got a call from the police department that the organ had been found,' Sehn told The Cut in an interview published on Wednesday.
When he learned that the penis was still in tact, he said he was excited because he thought 'we've got a real operation to do'.
The penis had been 'contaminated' in the field, he said, but was in a good condition.

'It came in, as they say on ice, and it was very recently amputated,' he recalled.
Within a few hours, he and plastic surgeon Dave Berman were reattaching it in the operating room.
After having his penis reattached, Bobbitt launched a porn career. He had a penis enhancement before filming his second movie, Frankenpenis
'It took us about nine hours to do the case and it went really very nicely,' he said, adding that by the end of the procedure, it was 'pink and doing well.'
Sehn has kept a law profile over the last two decades while Bobbitt relished in his infamy and launched a porn career.
Neither he nor the hospital received any payment from Bobbitt for the lengthy procedure, despite him going on to profit from the crime, because he declared bankruptcy afterwards.
'The other thing that was really disappointing for me was that as soon as John signed up with the media attorneys, there was an attorney that was hired who immediately took John to federal district court in Alexandria and Chapter 11’ed all of his debts.
'That meant all the care he got at our hospital — and we’re not a wealthy hospital, we’re a suburban hospital — all of his debts went into bankruptcy, so even though $6 million was made on the porn films, none of those bills for John’s medical care were ever paid.
'The hospital and all of the other doctors and nurses were given nothing,' he said.
The physician was disappointed, he said, when Bobbitt underwent liposuction and had an 'enhancement procedure' performed on his reattached organ which left him with scar tissue.

In his porn film, Frankenpenis, Bobbitt's scars are on display. Sehn said that while he has not seen he film, he was 'disappointed' in it and Bobbitt's decision to alter the corrected penis.
'I was disappointed in, I think it was the second porn film, Frankenpenis, that the surgical result was seriously damaged by liposuction and some kind of an enhancement procedure.
'I’ve never seen that film, but apparently it led to a lot of scar tissue. So it was a mixed progression,' he said.
In a recent interview, Bobbitt told how he would have killed himself if he had been left alone in the first few hours after his penis was severed.
'I'm kind of mutilated in the most worst way a man can be mutilated and I was self-terminated, and I was looking for something that can end it with looking around.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
