«Breaking News» Shocking moment a man berates a Texas woman for speaking Spanish at a Cracker Barrel

A Texas woman is sharing shocking video of a white man telling her and her mother to 'talk in English' because 'this is America' on the porch of a Cracker Barrel restaurant. 

Jasmin Nolan, of El Paso, was leaving the restaurant on February 15 when an unidentified man interjected their conversation with a racist diss. 

'This is America, talk in English...Why can't you speak English?' the man said launching a vicious tirade while holding a can of open beer. 

But Nolan didn't just walk away - instead she turned around to face the man and launched a scalding rant defending her bilingual heritage. 

****Nobody has the right to use this video or audio in this video without my written consent, not on the news, radio, or media****** This morning I was having a great day enjoying a meal at Cracker Barrel with my mom, we were talking about my wedding once my husband comes back from deployment and about all of these plans we have. When we left the place, while talking to my mom, I hear this man say “This is America, talk in English” Oh my god. I literally didn’t even think. As soon as what he said clicked in my brain. I immediately turned around and started going off on him. How is a drunk man drinking with an open container in the morning going to tell me what language I can speak. How is this man going to make me feel bad FOR KNOWING TWO LANGUAGES. How is this man going to disrespect MY MOTHER in front of me. A mother who taught me how to love America all of my life. A mother who encouraged me to learn English and who I have seen take on the language herself as an adult. I just don’t understand the logic of some of these people trying to claim that knowing two languages is bad. I would of never imagined that HERE IN EL PASO, a man would tell this to us. A city made up of immigrants, bilinguals and military members. He instantly pulled out his retired veteran card, and apparently an officer too, for he made a comment earlier that my husband didn’t count since he’s enlisted. Once he pulled out his I served for my country card, it was over for him. Because I don’t know who the hell is going around telling these ignorant people that the military is to enforce the English language. No! The military is there to enforce our freedom! Our freedom to speech, to religion, etc. I love our military, I love our soldiers, I believe in the Army and our other branches. But even in our military, we have a huge cultural diversity. It’s time for the rest of the country to catch up. Because us bilinguals aren’t going anywhere. Whether we are fluent in Spanish, Chinese, German, whatever! We are here to stay and we are forever. Take a good look at this man, because this is the face of pure racism. And no person is going to bully us out. Or tell us what to do. This man messed with the wrong 5 foot 2 inches gal, because this TexMex was raised to have HUEVOS! & if any of you support his argument, I welcome you out of my life. I don’t care if you’re a friend or family. This isn’t a political argument where we can have a small difference, this is a racism argument that has nothing to do with our country’s values. *This post DOES NOT speak on behalf of the DOD, any military branch or ANY military member at all. 'Oh I can - I can speak English and Spanish. I’m bilingual and in this country I can speak whatever language I want. And I'm not gonna have some retired f**king drinking in the morning asshole telling me what language I can speak in my country,' she said. 

She adds he's not legally allowed to have an open container of alcohol outside the restaurant.  

The man who appeared to be alone told Nolan he was a veteran suffering from PTSD. 

Nolan responded in turn saying her husband is currently deployed in Korea.

'Get out of my face. Adios. I'm a bona fide American,' he says to her mother when she calls him stupid. 

'I'm an American born and raised as well and my husband is deployed so you have no right to be talking to people like that. I'm going to talk whatever f**king language I want to whether it's Spanish or English,' she replies. 

The incident took place at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in El Paso Texas on February 15

'Speak English. Where are you from? Where's your Spanish dialect from...What does that sign say? Is it in Espanol? Adonde va?' he adds, mocking their language.  

She posted the two and a half minute clip on Facebook on February 15 where it's gone viral racking up 65,000 views.

'When we left the place, while talking to my mom, I hear this man say "This is America, talk in English". Oh my god. I literally didn’t even think. As soon as what he said clicked in my brain. I immediately turned around and started going off on him,' she wrote in her post. 

'How is a drunk man drinking with an open container in the morning going to tell me what language I can speak. How is this man going to make me feel bad FOR KNOWING TWO LANGUAGES,' she added. 

Nolan reveals the incident was very distressing for her. 

'At the moment it was very upsetting. These things happen all over the U.S. but just the fact that it happened here in my hometown -- we're a border city -- it's a very bilingual city. It was just infuriating,' she said to ABC7. 

Janella Escobar, director of corporate communications at Cracker Barrel, said in a statement to the El Paso Times that staff and customers should be respectful to one another. 

'We at Cracker Barrel are governed by our mission of Pleasing People. In the spirit of those two simple words, we operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people,' Escobar said. 

'These ideals are at the core of our corporate culture and evident in our stores. We respect all individuals regardless of who they are or what they believe and we require the same mutual respect amongst our employees, guests and vendors,' she added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
