«Breaking News» Parents of girl killed in a hit-and-run reveal their shock after the driver 'fled to Saudi Arabia

The parents of a 15-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run have spoken out about their devastating loss. 

Parents Fawn Lengvenis and Seth Smart opened up about losing their 'gentle' and 'generous' daughter Fallon Smart and the shock of finding out her accused killer, Saudi student Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, had escaped before the trial.

The teenager, who was weeks away from her 16th birthday, was killed by the speeding car as she crossed Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard in August 2016.

Witnesses had also described how Noorah, who studied at Portland Community College, had failed to stop his vehicle after hitting the teenage girl. 

In their first interview since losing their daughter, Fallon's parents described their wavering faith in the legal system upon hearing that the Saudi government had assisted Noorah in his escape.    

Following her death, Noorah, who was driving with a suspended licence, was arrested on the charges of first-degree manslaughter and felony hit-and-run but he later fled the country with the help of the Saudi consulate.

Ms Lengvenis told Oregon Live: 'It’s like the laws of physics go out the door. And it all starts from the beginning again.'

Father Mr Smart added: 'The imagination runs wild. 

'Is he just leading his normal life somewhere? Does he even think about it? Does he even care?'

The parents, who have since remarried, described how their lives had forever changed since their daughter, who had aspirations of becoming a scientist or a teacher, was killed.  

Ms Lengvenis said: 'It almost feels like you’re reading the plot of an intrigue novel. It’s hard to believe that it’s part of your reality.' 

Mr Smart told Oregon Live: 'It’s not just mourning one life. It is mourning all the possibilities that one life had.'

After his arrest, Fallon's parents described their shock at finding out how Noorah had posted bail, which had been set at $1 million, and been released from jail.

They later learnt that the Saudi government had posted the $100,000 required for the Saudi student's release.

Mr Smart added: I’m not very hopeful. I don’t think Mr. Noorah is coming back to the United States.'

According to Oregon Live, federal law enforcement now believe the Saudi government provided Noorah with an secret passport and a way of leaving the country-most probably a private jet- after he was released from jail and put under house arrest.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
